Don Robinson, former member of the iconic group En Vogue, has been living in her car for almost three years, a choice that might surprise many. Reflecting on her journey, she admits, “If you would have said to me while I was in En Vogue that I was going to be living in my car one day, I would’ve said, ‘Huh? No, I’m always going to have an apartment.’” Yet, here she is, embracing a new lifestyle on the road, and finding peace in it.

This unexpected way of life didn’t come out of necessity; it was a decision she made after realizing living with her parents had become too challenging. “I love my mom, but she became very angry, and I was like, I can’t deal with this,” Don explained. After having trouble securing a permanent home, Don found herself relying on empty promises from her manager. He had initially offered her a place to stay, but it turned out that he didn’t have room. What began as a one-night hotel stay turned into eight months of uncertainty.

Every time Don tried to find a new apartment, her manager would discourage her, criticizing neighborhoods without considering her needs. Frustrated and feeling stuck, Don stumbled upon a community of people who lived in their cars. She saw something inspiring in their lifestyle and thought to herself, “I could do this.”

After researching and seeing other celebrities who had taken the same path, Don felt confident in her choice. “It’s not like, ‘Oh my God, poor Dawn, she’s living in her car.’ It’s not that,” she said. Instead, she saw it as an opportunity for self-discovery. “I’m learning about who I am,” she shared, embracing the freedom and clarity this new way of life has brought her.

Living in her car hasn’t been easy, but it has taught her valuable lessons. Don is focused on her future, knowing that her success is in her hands. “Any kind of sacrifice… it’s like, ‘Did I do the right thing?’ But then you see the end result,” she explained. She believes that the road ahead will lead her to even greater success, saying, “From here, from my car, into that life is going to be amazing.” She’s confident that she will succeed again, and she envisions a bright future ahead, “I see it in my mind.”

Don Robinson’s story is a testament to resilience and self-reinvention. Despite the challenges, she remains optimistic about her journey, ready to turn this chapter of her life into a success story.
