Investec Champions Cup 2025-2026 Fixtures: When Will Antoine Dupont Return?

Antoine Dupont will make his return to the field at some point this season. Could it be in the first two rounds of the Champions Cup? Here’s our guess.

When Antoine Dupont went down with an injury against Ireland during the 2025 Six Nations, the world of rugby shifted.

Dupont already was the best player in the world and well on his way to being FloRugby’s No. 1 Player in the World, but his performance up to that point in the Six Nations was arguably the best he’d ever played.

He was coming off a gold medal in the Olympics and already had helped his team beat the All Blacks a few months earlier.

His club team, Toulouse, was pretty much unstoppable with him in the lineup, and no one could envision Toulouse not going back-to-back in both the Champions Cup and Top 14 with him on the field.

Then, he suddenly wasn’t on the field.

France still crushed Ireland and won the Six Nations. Toulouse still won the Top 14. But Toulouse couldn’t beat Bordeaux in the semifinals of the Champions Cup.

So far in Top 14 play, Toulouse has looked like Toulouse at home but has lost multiple matches against good clubs on the road. Dupont should be the difference between winning on the road and losing.

But ACL injuries are hard to predict.

That injury for Dupont happened the first weekend of March. It will have been about nine months since it occurred when the Champions Cup begins on Dec. 5. Reports over the summer had Dupont returning in late November or early December.

Now, perhaps this is all moot, and Dupont will return in November for France, as Les Bleus play the likes of South Africa, Fiji and Australia.

But it’s more than likely Dupont returns for his professional club. And that club has won more Champions Cup titles than anyone else, so we know they take the competition seriously.

So when will Dupont return? Here’s our guess:

Best Guess: Antoine Dupont Will Return for the Glasgow Warriors Match

Everyone in the world would love to see Dupont return for the Dec. 7 match at Stade Ernest-Wallon against the Hollywoodbets Sharks.

In a perfect world, that would mean the bulk of the French national team, the stars of the Springboks, and even stars of England and Scotland, all would be in that match. And seeing Dupont make his return in front of fans would be special.

But if Toulouse is going to break the Dupont glass, it seems like the road match against the Warriors — who have one of the best home records in the world — would be it.

It gives Dupont an extra week, and for Toulouse to ensure more home matches in the knockout round — does anyone think they won’t finish in the top 4 of their pool? — they need to win a match on the road against a quality opponent.

The next road match will be in January in Round 3 against Saracens. He’ll likely be back before then.

So, the best guess: prepare for some Dupont at Scotstoun Stadium.
