AN ADVENTUROUS traveler captured the moment he strolled through an eerie ghost town abroad with one hotel operating.

The footage shows Josh Snaith, from the UK, walking through an isolated town on the island of Phú Quốc in Vietnam.

Viewers of the video commented they don’t understand why it was empty as is “such a nice town”

In the video captioned “What is the story behind the countless number of ghost towns in Phu Quoc, Vietnam?” the twenty-four-year-old showed himself wandering through the desolate streets, with not a single other person in sight.

He says: “It’s just a ghost town, I don’t understand it.

“Such a nice place as well.

“They’ve clearly thought we’ll build it, and they’ll come, but no one has ended up coming.”

The footage has received significant attention, harboring over one million views thus far.

While the island is notorious for its pearls, sandy beaches, tropical weather and beautiful resorts, Snaith discovered an abandoned town with one hotel open.

The oil and gas engineer has shared several of his adventures exploring creepy abandoned places during his travels across the world.

The twenty-four-year old was inspired to visit the island after learning about its beautiful beaches

The video has received 29,000 likes and 2,200 comments including from Rere who wrote: “Woah, this is very different to the Phu Quoc I visited. I wouldn’t have imagined there was anything on the island like this!”

Another said: “The story is short: unsuccessful investment.”

A third commented: “This actually looks great! No crowds, no litter very peaceful.

Snaith explained he was drawn to the island because of its beaches.

He said: “I was expecting sandy shores and built up resorts with many tourists.

“But then I found the empty town.

“I was just in wonder – wondering why these lovely areas are not populated with people and what has gone on for them to be empty.

“The area is a little eerie with not seeing anybody, but it is also very cleaned and well maintained.”

He added: “There are some open buildings, but inside is just a shell, concrete walls and concrete stair cases with nothing in.

“There is currently one hotel operating in the town, but I don’t know if anyone actually lives there.”

Viewers of Snaith’s video commented on how beautiful the island is and that looks like “such a nice place”

He went on to explain he thought the main reason for the isolated buildings was that they may have been over developed before Covid-19.

Snaith thinks the results of Covid-19 are continuing to take a toll on tourism in the town to this day.

Snaith said: “They expected a lot more tourists to visit than there are at the moment.”

Turkey’s Kayakoy is home to around around 400 houses, two churches and multiple chapels abandoned, despite being located in a beautiful location.

The town is said to have been left by locals after they reported a ghost sightings.

The eerie streets have also been left behind and can be visited by tourists able to glimpse at the lives of those who used to live there.
