A WHEEL of Fortune contestant suffered such a bad puzzle fail on Tuesday that Pat Sajak had to urge viewers to reward her empathy.

The longtime host- retiring in mere weeks – knew there would be backlash for Brittany’s very puzzling wrong letter pick.

Brittany had control of a “Phrase” puzzle, and the special jackpot round was worth $11,200.

The puzzle read as “A_T_ING’ ‘IS’ ‘POSSIB_ _ E’ so it seemed to be just asking to be solved.

However, Brittany spun again instead of solving.

Then came the shocker: she requested an “R.”

The audience gasped, and Britany cringed with instant regret as Pat, 77, told her, “I’m sorry, no R.”

The next contestant, Susan, opted to solve it immediately as “Anything Is Possible.”

‘AND THEN WE MOVE ON…’

Pat addressed the audience, anticipating fan backlash for Brittany and her baffling miss.

“Sometimes you’re sitting at home and you think, ‘I know that,’” he said to the camera.

“It’s a funny thing; sometimes, it doesn’t want to come in to focus – and then we move on to the next round.”

‘HOW!?’

Nonetheless, the miss did cause a backlash as social media users were vocal in their shock at the “R” pick.

“I can’t believe she said ‘R’ , proving that anything is not possible,” one fan quipped on X.

“How did she not know it? It was pretty much complete, apart from like 3 letters now she’s made me grind my teeth, and I can’t stop,” wrote another.

“Where the heck did that woman think an R was going to fit into that puzzle?” wondered a third.

That said, neither Susan nor Brittany won the episode as the third player, Grant, had the biggest night with $27,000 before the bonus round.

HONORING PAT

Wheel of Fortune host Pat is in his final few episodes before retiring from the game show next month.

As he nears the end of his 43-year career on the program, fans have reflected on some of his funniest moments on camera.

Many noted his classic one-liners used when a contestant gets a puzzle wrong.

In a throwback clip shared on Instagram, a question had players guessing “fast-burning stove,” “food-burning stove,” and “hood-burning stove.”

Finally, a contestant said “wood-burning stove,” which was the correct answer, but the 77-year-old host said it was too late.

“We pretty much burned everything in sight,” he joked.

Fans raced to the comments section to gush over Pat’s humor and share how much they will miss him on WOF.

“I actually cry when I think of Pat leaving! I love his humor. He will be missed,” one confessed.

“Been loving these clips! Pat is so hilarious. He will be sorely missed. Not going to be the same without him at all,” a second agreed.

“These were incredible,” a third shared.

“Legend,” another put shortly.

PAT’S A WRAP

Pat’s last episode will air on June 7 and is fittingly titled “Thanks For The Memories.”

The show has not shared if Pat’s farewell will be an all-out tribute with memories from over the years or simply business as usual with a goodbye at the end.

The episode will be a TV milestone as the host has spun out puzzles and prizes alongside Vanna White, 66, since 1981 and 1982 respectively.

Ryan Seacrest, 49, was selected as Pat’s replacement last year shortly after Pat announced he’d be leaving.

That said, fans have shared mixed feelings about the decision.

On social media, one dedicated viewer claimed that the American Idol star has “big shoes to fill” regarding the WoF star’s beloved humor.

The show airs weekdays at 7:30 pm ET on ABC, so fans can catch his sendoff on June 7 at that time.

And yet, fans were still at a loss, 'How did she not know it? It was pretty much complete, apart from like 3 letters'
