At the 2025 SAG Awards, Only Murders in the Building took home the prestigious award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. The win was a major moment for the show, and Selena Gomez, who stars in the hit series, stunned on stage as she accepted the honor alongside her co-stars.
The excitement was palpable as Selena, along with season 4 cast members Molly Shannon, Michael Cyril Creighton, Kumail Nanjiani, and Richard Kind, accepted the award. The group seemed just as shocked as Selena, who could hardly believe they had won.
“I mean, I still don’t know what to say,” Selena admitted on stage. “Thank you to Marty and Steve,” she added, referencing the show’s creators. “They helped raise me.” Despite her surprise, Selena was clearly grateful for the recognition, and her gratitude was shared by the rest of the cast.
Richard Kind, one of the show’s newcomers, expressed his disbelief as well. “I still don’t believe it,” he said. “It’s a wonderful show, but things like this don’t happen to us a lot.” He went on to acknowledge the excellence of entertainment across all genres and how proud they were to be recognized. “We are superior, but we did not think this was ours,” he added with a laugh.
For the ensemble, the win was an unexpected and thrilling moment. “I was just thrilled to be a part of the show,” said another cast member. “It’s my favorite show on TV, so just getting to work with these people has been the true reward.” They emphasized how great it was to see their peers, other actors, recognizing their work.
While the show’s core cast, including Selena, Steve Martin, and Martin Short, have been the backbone of Only Murders in the Building, each season brings in new faces that bring fresh energy to the show. “The best part of the show is we have that amazing core of Selena, Marty, and Steve, but then every season we get a whole bunch of new, amazing actors,” said one cast member.
This latest win was a testament to the strength and appeal of Only Murders in the Building, a series that has continued to captivate audiences with its unique blend of comedy, mystery, and stellar performances. The SAG Award recognized the chemistry and talent of the entire ensemble, from the original stars to the newcomers, who together have made the show a standout in the comedy genre.
The win marked a special moment in the careers of those involved, and the cast members took a moment to reflect on how rewarding it was to work together. “It was a dream to work with these two,” one of the co-stars said, nodding to his fellow actors.
With Only Murders in the Building continuing to build momentum and fans excited for future seasons, this SAG Award win is just the beginning of many more accolades to come for the show and its talented ensemble.
