The video he shared also sees him meeting the show’s crew as he tells them, “My heart’s pounding, I’m so excited.”

“They couldn’t have found someone better. Good luck!” someone else said.

Pat, 77, announced his retirement on X last year after hosting the show since 1983.

“Well, the time has come. I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last,” he wrote.

“It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all.”

Ryan was announced as the new host in June last year.

In his post about his new role, the American Idol presenter said he was “humbled” to take over the gig from Pat.
