Plus, learn all about the burgeoning game show revival

PRESS Your Luck fans have called out the game show for a shady move towards an opera singer contestant in the season premiere.

Season 6 of the game show premiered with host Elizabeth Banks tonight on ABC.

Opera singer Dennis faced speech pathologist Peggy and recent college grad Gabby on the season premiere.

During the second Big Board round, Dennis lost his entire $17,000 (and a trip to the Las Vegas Sphere) after landing on an ambulance-themed whammy (or Whambulence).

He began building his score back up when he instantly ran into a second Whammy- wiping his score clean once more.

What’s worse, the second Whammy was themed as an opera singer.

Press Your Luck fans floored by ‘most painful game show moment ever’

“Thank you for giving me your money,” the cartoon Whammy sang, which seemed especially cruel given that’s Dennis’ profession.

‘SO DAMN COLD’

Viewers took to social media to call out the low-blow opera singer Whammy.

“Showing the opera singer Whammy to the opera singer is so damn cold.” one X user wrote.

“Ok, there was clearly someone in the back deciding to do the opera singer whammy on the opera singer,” wrote another.

Gabby wound up going to the bonus round where she won more five figures in cash and prizes including a Four Seasons brunch.

Press Your Luck Season 6 airs weekly on Thursday nights throughout the summer at 8 p.m. ET on ABC and on Hulu.

FEELING LUCKY?

On Press Your Luck, contestants begin by answering general knowledge trivia questions to earn spins on the Big Board.

For each question, the first person to buzz in has a chance to reply.

A correct buzz-in answer is worth three spins, while getting a multiple-choice answer correct afterward is worth one.

After four questions, the game moves to the Big Board, and the winner eventually goes on to the bonus round.

On the big board, cash and prizes ensue which range from Outdoor TVs to lavish vacations.

But so does the devilish Whammy, which takes all earnings away and is to be avoided at all costs.

The show was a hit in the 1980s, but ended its run after just three seasons in 1986.

It ended in a scandal in 1984 when an unemployed ice cream truck driver named Michael Larson won big by memorizing the board’s patterns.

Fans thrilled the show is back and is now hosted by Elizabeth – who is a huge fan and used to watch the show growing up, per ET.

According to the outlet, she “cried in the shower” after her first day hosting the revival because it meant so much to her.
