Jeopardy! fans fear its upcoming spinoff will be ‘dumbed down’ from the original show – as the ‘Thirst Traps’ category was unveiled.

Pop Culture Jeopardy! was announced in May and will feature three teams of three playing the game.

This version tests players’ knowledge on topics such as “It was in the 90s”, “Origin of the Meme” and “Big Charles Dickens Energy“.

Fans got a sneak peek in a preview clip shared on Instagram.

The short video revealed the inclusion of a “Thirst Traps” category.

Some viewers were left concerned the show’s high standards were slipping.

One person wrote: “Dumbed down Jeopardy?”

Another remarked: “Trash knowledge jeopardy yay.”

While a third commented: “It’s nice to see Jeopardy drop their standards and slide into vulgarity.”

SNL’s Colin Jost was confirmed as host of Pop Culture Jeopardy! back in July.

“What is: “I’m excited”, the comedian shared in a statement.

The show will be officially premiering on Wednesday, December 4.

Unlike other versions of the game, Pop Culture Jeopardy! will be not be airing on ABC.

Instead, it will be releasing its episodes on Amazon Prime, with three new instalments out each week.

Other fans had a more positive outlook about the upcoming series.

One penned: “YES please.

“I’m already anticipating for the show to be renewed so I have a chance to be on.

“I feel like I’ve prepared my whole life for this!”
