Max’s new medical drama, The Pit, has quickly become a streaming sensation, earning praise for its intense storytelling and gripping performances. The show recently secured a second-season renewal, much to the excitement of fans. Here to talk about the hit show is its star, Noah Wyle.

Interviewer: Noah, thank you for being here!

Noah Wyle: Thank you for having me.

Interviewer: Congratulations on the season two pickup! You play Dr. Robbie in The Pit, which is quite a unique medical drama. The show consists of 15 episodes, each representing one real-time hour of a single day. The format keeps viewers glued to the screen—you can look away, but you can’t leave. How challenging was it to film such an intense show?

Noah Wyle: It was definitely a demanding project! The real-time format requires constant focus from the cast and crew. There’s no downtime, so we had to maintain high intensity throughout filming. It’s exhausting but incredibly rewarding to tell the story in this way.

Interviewer: The show is set in Pittsburgh, but it’s filmed in Los Angeles. You mentioned this choice is part of an awareness campaign. Can you explain more about that?

Noah Wyle: Sure. The aim is to highlight the contrast between Hollywood’s glamorous image and the reality of blue-collar, hard-hat industries. Pittsburgh represents many American cities where craftsman and union jobs are the backbone of the economy. Unfortunately, between 2022 and 2024, the industry lost about 17,000 such jobs. I haven’t worked in L.A. since ER wrapped 15 years ago, and this project helps put pressure on streaming services and studios to bring more production work to cities like Pittsburgh.

Interviewer: Let’s talk about your role as Dr. Robbie. Playing a doctor isn’t new for you—about 20 years ago, you portrayed Dr. John Carter on ER. Can fans expect to see any of your old ER castmates in The Pit?

Noah Wyle: We definitely keep in touch. In fact, I’m heading to New York soon to support George Clooney in his Broadway debut. We’ve often talked about the possibility of working together again, so who knows? It would be great to reunite with the old cast, and maybe The Pit will offer that opportunity in the future.

Interviewer: There’s been some controversy surrounding The Pit. A lawsuit claims the show is an unauthorized ER reboot, which Warner Brothers has denied. How do you respond to these allegations?

Noah Wyle: It’s definitely an uncomfortable situation. The Pit and ER are quite different in tone and structure, so I hope this issue resolves itself quickly. The lawsuit is unfortunate, but I trust the truth will come out.

Interviewer: Thank you, Noah, for sharing your insights into The Pit and your experiences. We look forward to season two!

Noah Wyle: Thank you! It’s been a pleasure discussing the show.

The Pit continues to push boundaries with its real-time format, offering viewers an intense and authentic look at the lives of medical professionals. With its gripping storytelling and strong performances, the show has carved out a unique place in the medical drama genre. Fans eagerly await the next chapter in this high-stakes series when season two premieres.
