Tensions between Kim Kardashian and her ex-husband Kanye West have flared up again, this time over Kanye’s latest song featuring their daughter North Kardashian and incarcerated rapper Diddy. The track, titled Lonely Roads Still Go to Sunshine, begins with what sounds like a jailhouse phone call from Diddy, who expresses gratitude for Kanye’s support of his children. Just over two minutes in, North delivers a rap verse, confidently rapping, “Doing everything I wanted, that’s a life when you see sh and then you see the light.”

The controversy ignited after Kanye shared a now-deleted tweet containing a text message exchange that allegedly showed Kim threatening legal action to prevent North from appearing on the song. Kanye captioned the tweet with frustration, implying Kim’s attempt to block the song’s release. The text exchange reportedly included Kim saying, “I sent paperwork over so she wouldn’t be in the Diddy song to protect her.”

Diddy, who is also featured on the track, is currently facing serious legal trouble. The rapper is charged with sex trafficking and racketeering, with his trial set to begin on May 5th.

An ET source emphasized Kim’s stance, saying, “Kim’s priority is the well-being and safety of her children. As a mom, especially putting her child on a platform for a lot of opinions, it’s something to really, really think about.” Kim’s concerns appear rooted in Kanye’s controversial behavior in recent years and the desire to shield North from the associated public scrutiny.

Despite this latest clash, Kim and Kanye have previously shown moments of co-parenting unity. Last May, they came together to support North during her Hollywood debut as the voice of Simba in The Lion King. At the time, Kim noted Kanye’s positive involvement, saying, “He came to rehearsal—it’s always good vibes.”

However, tensions resurfaced nearly ten months later. Kanye reportedly became enraged over what he perceives as Kim’s limited access to their four children and her decision to trademark North’s name. In an alleged text message to Kim, Kanye wrote, “Amend it, or I’m going to war. Neither of us will recover from the public fallout.”
