Jeopardy! contestants have scored some big winners over the years, and some fashion choices have caused a Daily-Double take.

From an athleisure getup that offended fans to Alex Trebek hosting without pants, there’s been no shortage of interesting attire on Jeopardy!.

Here are some of the most jarring outfits that have graced the game show’s stage.

NO TROUSERS TREBEK

During the 2005 Ultimate Tournament of Champions, Alex walked out on stage without pants.

The nerve-wracking tournament was one of the game show’s first big events, with Ken Jennings, 49, Brad Rutter and Jerome Vered as the finalists.

The group joked about playing against one another sans pants – noting Jeopardy!’s podiums would keep their three-way prank private.

Little did they know their mics were on, according to The New York Post.

Suddenly, Alex took the stage in his suit with no bottoms, telling them, “I was informed backstage a few minutes ago that our three contestants, Ken, Brad, and Jerome, wanted to relieve some of the tension and said ‘we must do the program without trousers.’

He teased, “Now can we get a camera behind to make sure that they have done the same as I?”

The players, who were fully clothed, lost it laughing along with the adoring audience.

Ken Jennings mocked for using ‘ridiculous’ accent during ‘tense’ Jeopardy! game

Ken later recalled to The View‘s Sara Haines, “Alex must have been listening.

Jeopardy! Masters host Ken Jennings says contestants are ‘playing to cameras’ in big change from ‘syndicated show’

“Because at the top of the show, the music plays, the announcer says, ‘The host of ‘Jeopardy!’ Alex Trebek,’ and he walks out in his boxers.”

“I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard in my life. That cut the tension,” Ken added.

YOGA TO BE KIDDING

Contestant Joe Feldman, a technology worker from Maryland, was bested after two wins in 2022 – but his outfit may go down in Jeopardy! history.

Joe, at the left podium, wore a form-fitting quarter-zip neon-patterned pullover.

He had Jeopardy! Twitter fuming he was unfit to play in his simply wild fitness-evoking wardrobe choice.

“Casual Joe,” one fan posted as another echoed, “Casual Tuesday.”

A third wrote, “Ooh no. Clothing is usually irrelevant but a yoga shell suit won’t do.”

A fourth joked, “Joe came straight from a bike race.”

While a fifth spun up, “Why does Joe look like he has Jeopardy at 7 and the Tour de France at 7:30?”

Another similarly teased, “I’m pretty sure Joe ran to the Jeopardy studio the day this episode was filmed.”

Yet another fumed, “Whatever the hell Joe is wearing is a disgrace to Jeopardy. Surprised his bike helmet isn’t on the podium.”

OH SHIRT

Ryan Long was in the midst of his beloved 16-day winning streak that same year when a challenger came dressed in another head-turning number.

John Sernoff, a Brooklyn New York “performing arts publicist” wore a bright red, western-style button-up that appeared to have Bigfoot walking in opposite directions above the pockets.

“Is … that Sasquatch on his shirt?” one tweeted in shock.

“Lol this contestant on @Jeopardy has Bigfoot on his shirt,” another wrote.

“This is ridiculous and I’m in awe. I love when contestants bring their personal flair to Jeopardy,” wrote a third commenter.

A fourth interestingly imagined, “In an alternate universe, I hope Bigfoot’s playing #jeopardy and wearing his shirt with two Ryans on it.”

A fifth even discovered Bigfoot, or at least the shirt, online as the game aired.

“Found it if anyone wants one too,” the Twitter user shared, linking to the item which comes in various colors and costs $69 before shipping.

YOU GOT MAIL

In 2023, Charlotte, a UPS driver, wore an outfit that stole the show even if she didn’t win the game.

The eye-catching red suit jacket had brass-coated fish that lined the buttons and is made in Spain, per an eagle-eyed fan who found the blazer online.

“I’m digging Charlotte’s jacket,” one Twitter user wrote at the time.

“What in the Greatest Showman is happening here” joked another.

Jeopardy! guest hosts

Since Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek died in November 2020, the beloved game show has continued with various guest hosts in 2021 to present day:

Another Twitter fan spotted that the outfit was a “sartorial homage to letter carriers of the Royal Mail during the reign of Queen Charlotte,” so it was quite a clever reference too as she is a UPS driver.

Charlotte then tweeted a selfie after her episode aired with shades, a UPS hat, and the viral blazer while on her mail route from her truck.

“The whole @Jeopardy crew is so warm and supportive,” she wrote.

“When I got offstage (still stinging a little) one of the awesome contestant coordinators told me ‘the day your episode airs you should wear that jacket on your route, and don’t tell anyone why.’

“I LOVED IT. SO I DID.”
