Jeopardy! fans are suddenly buzzing about Allison Gross, who won her third game in a no-nonsense $25,000 runaway on Thursday.

But the win was bittersweet as promising challenger Isabella Dawis lost $8,000 and her momentum in a rare early Daily Double twist.

After a perplexing Final Jeopardy clue last episode, Allison 2.0 was back for more.

The data scientist from ClevelandOhio, went head-to-head against Isabella and Jennifer Trofa.

Her ongoing streak comes just a few weeks after Alison Betts became Season 40’s first streaker with five wins and $121,500.

That said, the Jeopardy! round was dominated by Isabella who had $6,600 by the first break, Allison $2,200, Jennifer -$800.

The writer, actor, and musician from MinneapolisMinnesota, also endeared fans and Ken Jennings with her Q&A story.

She recalled singing for the New York Philharmonic at the last minute while “gigging as a singer” in New York City, scoring laughs and attention.

But things took a turn after the commercial break when Isabella found the first Daily Double with a huge lead, betting all $8,000.

She could not think of “Basques” in a crushing blow and looked distraught.

At the end of the round and despite 15 correct responses, she had $600, Allison $4,400, Jennifer -$1,000.

Double Jeopardy! was instead all Allison, who aced both Daily Doubles and secured a runaway with $19,600.

Isabella wound up with $4,200 and her energy seemed zapped with only three more correct responses, and Jennifer had $200.

Final Jeopardy! under “1980s FADS” was “A November 29, 1983 N.Y. Times article about these used “near-riot”, “adoptable”, “waiting for 8 hours” & “my life (is) in danger””

Fans were surprised that only Allison was correct with “Cabbage Patch Kids,” but it also justified her win even more.

She added $5,400 to win $25,000, for a three-day total of $44,598.

‘BIG MISS’

Fans took to Reddit happy for Allison but feeling for Isabella, who clearly showed she was a strong and potentially long-running player herself until the big momentum shift.

“Congrats to Allison, but I was really pushing for Isabella , I loved her energy!

“Isabella came out roaring, and looked dominant until that big $8,000 miss on DD1. About five clues into DJ she flatlined,” wrote another.

“I don’t know if her confidence deflated after the J round or the DJ categories weren’t in her wheelhouse. I’d like to see her get a Second Chance.”

Another wrote, “If not for that perhaps overly confident all-in DD, Isabella might have ousted Allison. She came close, which made for good gameplay. But Allison was more conservative with her DD wagers, and I’m glad she came away with a little more money today.”

A third wrote, “A shame what happened to Isabella on DD1 — going for the early KO isn’t the worst strategy — but at least it would not have changed the outcome.”

A fourth wrote, “2024 must be a good year to be named Allison or Alison!”

“The Season of the Woman continues! Victoria, Alison, Amy… and Allison coming on strong!” a fifth declared.

Allison will face two more challengers tomorrow night for win four, which would all but qualify her for the next Tournament of Champions.

She’d join Alison Betts, Dr. Amy Hummel and Celebrity Jeopardy!’s Lisa Ann Walter in what’s become a female-dominated season.

MASTERS 2024 STANDINGS

Meanwhile, Jeopardy! Masters Season 2 aired its third act of two quarterfinal matches on ABC last night.

The six elite-level contestants are reigning champ James HolzhauerAmy SchneiderMatt AmodioMattea Roach, and newcomers Victoria Groce and Yogesh Raut.

In game one, Yogesh – who boasted about the laundry list of contestants he’s had on his podcast – won his second match.

In game two, breakout star Victoria defeated fellow Chaser James and Mattea to her third win remaining undefeated.

Now, Victoria has 9 points, Yogesh 7, James 5, Matt, Amy and Mattea have 1.

Victoria, a mere one-day champ from 2005, qualified by winning the recent Invitational tournament, and she’s proven to be a buzzsaw who may dethrone James.

That said, some fans are finding the special a little lackluster this year regarding the wow factor since it’s clear who the top three will be.

As one Redditor wrote, “One thing this night for sure confirmed: Victoria, James and Yogesh are leagues above the other 3, and if someone who isn’t one of them makes the Top 3 (although I think Victoria is mathematically guaranteed to be in the finals at this rate) it would be a massive upset.”

Another wrote, “Hot take: daily doubles have made this tournament extremely boring. Everyone always going all in leads to most of these games being runaways.”

Masters began on May 1 and is scheduled to conclude with a grand finale on May 22.

The annual spinoff is meant to determine the best player in any given year.

The Masters grand prize is $500,000, a glitzy Alex Trebek trophy to honor the late iconic host and the title of Masters Champion.

Fear not, show traditionalists, as Masters will not interfere with regular gameplay, and both will air those nights.

Jeopardy! Masters continues on Friday, May 10 with Games 7 and 8 on ABC at 8 p.m. ET. and on Hulu.
