FAMILY Feud has noticeably become more inappropriate in recent years, and a top-level TV insider has revealed why to The U.S. Sun.

Steve Harvey, 67, has hosted the long-running syndicated game show for the past decade and a half.

Family Feud has divided fans as of late with its unflinching embrace of overtly explicit content.

While the show has always gotten unhinged answers from players, many have accused producers of overdoing it with NSFW prompts and boards.

A broadcast TV insider told The U.S. Sun that the “uptick in risque questions” is no accident and is intended to create viral moments.

The source admitted some channel surfers may think they’re watching the new version of the profanity-filled Jerry Springer Show.

‘FORMAT REWARDS BIG REACTIONS’

“For the casual viewer, and even for some TV executives, you turn on that show, and you might think for a second that you’re watching the new Jerry Springer,” the source said.

“Just because of the histrionics and the wild behavior.”

“You don’t see contestants like that on other shows, and the people they put on the air are quite intentionally meant to raise eyebrows in living rooms across America,” they added.

“The format rewards big reactions from the contestants and, of course, from Steve Harvey himself.”

“Especially in the last few years, there’s been this uptick in risqué or even sexual questions.”

The source added that producers are comfortable with seasoned host and former stand-up comic Steve’s handling of even the raunchiest answers.

“The producers know that Steve can handle that stuff and walk right up to the line without crossing it.

“It’s just part of the tradition of the show going all the way back to Richard Dawson’s years as host.

“Steve is encouraged, of course, by three Emmy wins for Outstanding Game Show Host, as recently as 2022 and 2017.

“He’s not phoning this in and it’s probably the best job he’s had in his career in terms of pay and exposure.

Family Feud fans rage ‘what is this’ as they deem game show ‘inappropriate’ after ‘nasty’ questions

“He might freak out Middle America sometimes, but within the Hollywood community, he is a treasured veteran.

“He makes the job look easy when everybody in the TV business knows it absolutely isn’t.”

The source added that fans shouldn’t expect Steve to go anywhere anytime soon and may likely host for a similar tenure as the late Alex Trebek or Pat Sajak.

“I don’t see him leaving the show anytime soon, because the current iteration works so well as a business.”

Despite the uptick in on-air antics, the host also assured, “This franchise prints money.”

FEUD GOES TOO FAR?

In June, Family Feud turned heads with prompt asking contestants about male insecurities.

The show asked 100 men, “Fill in the blank. Admit it, you’re too [blank] to be a male exotic dancer,’” host Steve, 67, told the players.

With answers such as “scrawny,” “well-fed,” and “ugly” on the board, the Mosley family knew which direction to take when it was their chance to steal.

Player Judy seemed reluctant to answer as she slowly said, “You’re too… unendowed?”

Steve stared blankly ahead in disbelief as Judy mumbled over her words, eventually adding, “Package too small?”

After regaining his composure, Steve told the audience, “She cleaned it up. She said your package is too small.”

“You’re too small, you got, eh,” the host added as he turned to the board and continued to stutter over his words.

Unfortunately for the Mosley family, the bold answer didn’t land them a steal.

PLAYER QUESTIONS SHOW

A month earlier, some fans said the show was getting too raunchy and questioned if it was appropriate for kids.

The episode had Steve asking players to “name something a married couple might do together at home in the nude.”

One contestant answered, “Make love,” which the board translated as, “BBQ the bratwurst.”

The audience chuckled as the contestant then joked, questioning the board, “What in the world?!”

After the moment was shared on Family Feud’s Instagram, some critics said the show was no longer suitable for families.

“Family feud is getting kind of raunchy,” one person wrote.

“Such Much for a Show being Called ‘Family’ Feud,’ said a second.

“See this lady had the courtesy to say ‘sex’ a polite way just for the board to say some dumb s**t,” wrote another.
