A JEOPARDY! returning winner has admitted he got ‘wrecked’ by an underdog opponent during a ‘surprising’ game in the Tournament of Champions.

Fans are “shocked” that frontrunner Greg Jolin suffered a brutal loss as his rival “plowed through” correct answer after correct answer – leading to the tournament’s first blindsiding victory.

As the Tournament of Champions continues, the top winners from season 41, as well as a select few from later in season 40, returned to go head-to-head for the ultimate prize.

Greg, an accountant from Raymond, New Hampshire went up against Neilesh Vinjamuri, a software engineer from Lionville, Pennsylvania and Weckiai Rannila, an engineer from Albuquerque, New Mexico.

During season 41, Greg had won five consecutive games and pocketed a whopping $135,002.

Neilesh was a three-day champion who earned $53,099 while Weckiai had racked up $35,200 after winning three games in season 40.

To kick the game off, Neilesh snagged the first Daily Double under the category about Ernest Hemingway which added $1,000 to his leading score.

His quick buzzer work and mind-blowing answers gave Neilesh the impressive stat of 18 correct answers by the time the Double Jeopardy! round came around.

In comparison, Greg and Weckiai had pocketed five correct answers each by the same point in the game.

Neilesh was in the lead with $10,600 while Weckiai scored $3,000 points and Greg was in third place with $1,400.

Greg attempted to make up his third-place standing in the Double Jeopardy! round by finding the second Daily Double under the category “How Far Is It?”

However, he ended up missing the clue on a true Daily Double wager – costing him $3,800.

Attempting to get back in the game, Greg found the third Daily Double and once again, wagered everything.

Under the category “Piano Lesson” he went all in but unfortunately, lost the entire $2,000 he had gained since the last DD gone wrong.

Heading into Final Jeopardy! Neilesh had set himself up for a runaway lead with $28,200.

Greg had fallen to $800 while Weckiai maintained her second place standing the whole game with $4,600.

Host Ken Jennings introduced the final category as “English Literature” as the players placed their wagers.

“Part II of this 17th century work says, “I see myself now at the end of my journey; my toilsome days are ended,” he revealed the clue to be.

Everyone correctly wrote down “What is The Pilgrim’s Progress?”

Though he bet $0, Neilesh had a massive victory with $28,200 while Weckiai had $7,599 and Greg ended with $1,031.

Following the game, Greg went online and admitted: “ I got wrecked. More cogent thoughts after I get to watch later today.”

“I was surprised you lost,” a viewer responded to Greg.

Other fans were shocked as well, with one adding: “Neilish PLOWED through like he had places to be. What a behemoth!”

“I think this is the first shock result of the ToC. Neilesh came to play,” another said.

“Absolutely dominating performance. I remember Neilesh being very sharp but I don’t think anyone beats him if his next games are like this one,” one more said.
