JEOPARDY! viewers have slammed the show for giving a brutal final clue that led to Amar Kakirde’s loss.
Amar was only one game away from being a contestant in the next Tournament of Champions season before his unfortunate loss.
At the end of Jeopardy!, the contestant was in second place with a score of $14,200, competing against Abby Mann and Steve Miller.
As the trio headed into Final Jeopardy!, they were met with a clue about European scientists.
“On the 2022 Bicentennial of his birth, the body of this man was exhumed & DNA used to determine his genetic afflictions,” the clue read.
All three contestants answered incorrectly, ultimately leading Abby to victory with a final score of $5,200.
Amar, who answered, “Who is Tesla,” came in last place as he had shockingly wagered all of his earnings except $1.
Steve came in second with a final score of $2,399.
MISLEADING?
After watching the episode, some viewers took to social media to express their belief that the Final Jeopardy! clue was unfair.
“Absolutely brutal Final #Jeopardy clue today outdone by the brutally awful Final @Jeopardy wager by returning champion Amar that cost him the win,” one viewer wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Jeopardy! host Ken Jennings reveals reason he’ll ‘never’ compete on show again
“It is incredible to me how often players wager poorly in FJ. Category is European Scientists,” they added.
Others thought the way the clue was worded was misleading for the contestants.
Jeopardy! champ Amar Kakirde called out for one of the ‘lowest’ four-day cash totals after he wins in lackluster game
“I didn’t like this question, maybe I misread it but it said the exhumed his body to determine genetic afflictions. I could find no record of afflictions so I thought it was very misleading,” a second responded.
“I did not like anything about the clue,” a third chimed in.
“I think the contestants deserve a do over,” another tweeted.
Some viewers also took to Reddit to question why Amar bet such a large amount in the end.
Jeopardy! Universe

Jeopardy! first aired in 1964 until 1975. Then the nighttime version began in 1974. Since then, many spinoffs of the game show have emerged. Here they all are:
Jeopardy! – (syndicated) 1974 to present, weekdays on ABC at 7 pm ET.
Tournament of Champions – 1984 to present, features the top champions who have appeared on the show since the last tournament.
Second Chance Tournament – 2022 to present features hand-selected non-winners from the season prior, where the prize is entry into Champions Wildcard.
Champions Wildcard – 2023 to present, features all one, two and three-day champions from the season prior worth entry into the Tournament of Champions.
Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament (syndication) – 2023 to present, features past greats invited by producers to vie for a slot in Masters.
Jeopardy! Masters (primetime) – 2023 to present, features the six highest-ranked Jeopardy! champions competing against each other.
Celebrity Jeopardy! (primetime) – 1992 to present, has celebrities compete against each other to raise money for charity.
Pop Culture Jeopardy (streaming) – 2024 to present, will feature teams of three tasked with pop culture trivia on Amazon Prime, host and airdate TBD
Jeopardy! has done away with specialized tournaments like its College Tournaments, Kids Week, and Professor’s Tournament to gear towards a more sports-like model, with Masters being the top of the Jeopardy pyramid.
Other versions of Jeopardy! have fizzled out throughout the years as well, like Sports Jeopardy!.
“Hard to believe a four-time champ would make such a glaring wagering error in FJ,” one person wrote.
“Amar’s big over-bet cost him the win unfortunately,” said a second.
Others noted how Amar had been lucky with his contestants in the past, noting how they had previously “fumbled real hard.”
MEMORABLE MOMENT
Earlier this week, Amar was mocked by host Ken Jennings after mixing up two well-known rappers.
In the Name The Celebrity category, the contestants were given the clue, “A rapper: Has 2 kids with Rihanna. Actor in Dope and 2018’s Monster.”
“Who is Jay Z?” Amar buzzed first to the $400 question.
“No. Big news for Beyonce if true,” Ken said back while laughing. “This is ASAP Rocky.”
A similar instance happened on Wednesday’s episode of Jeopardy! with contestant Abby.
“He rapped, ‘Today I didn’t even have to use my AK, I gotta say it was a good day,’” read the clue in the Classic Rap Lyrics category.
Abby buzzed first, “Who is Ice-T?”
She was disappointed when she realized she had mixed up the rappers, as Brian chimed in correctly with, “Who is Ice Cube?”
Viewers shared their thoughts on X and slammed the show for including the “annoying” category, which has generated similar situations in previous episodes.
