HE’S a chart-topping music star with 10million daily streams.
But despite his huge success, singer Teddy Swims, 32, has revealed if he stops touring he won’t be able to afford to raise his soon to be born first child.
Fresh from an incredible performance at the Brit Awards inside London‘s O2 Arena, Teddy told Capital Radio that he needs to stay on the road to keep the money coming in.
He said: “We’ve got June off for the baby to be here and a lot of July off as well.
“But unfortunately, there is so much of this year that has been scheduled and we’re buying a house as well so we’re going to tour a little bit less.’
“But for the rest of this year if I stop touring then we can’t afford to have a baby.”
Next year, he’s going to be more selective with his shows, prioritizing festival dates, and concentrate on writing new music, which will then fuel future tours.
He continued: “He will be big enough by then that I think he will do some of the North American tour with me this year too.”
Teddy – real name Jaten Dimsdale – and singer girlfriend Raiche Wright, 29, revealed they were expecting in January, and weeks later she revealed her bump in a stunning outfit at the Grammys in LA.
The Lose Control star recently painted a picture of the idyllic life in the country he wants to live with his family in an interview with the Evening Standard
He said: “I wanna have land, I wanna have a yard and a garden and a creek and a pool. I want that baby to have a trampoline.
“Me and my girl even have started doing couples therapy together to make sure that we’re bringing this baby into the most beautiful, healthiest, communicative home.”
Last year, Teddy talked about his rise to the top of the pop pile with The Sun.
He called his career at that point a “whirlwind” and insisted he was doing his best to take it all in.
Known for his soulful croon, Teddy used to rock out in a post-hardcore band before changing genres, and he’s doing his best to preserve his lucrative asset.
He said: “I try to make sure I take as good care of it as possible. I mean, I probably drink a little much, man. I stay very hydrated all the time, and try to eat clean, no dairy, no gluten, you know, I just try to, try to do all the things that you need – the teas, and the honeys, and the bottle steam.
“I try to keep it the best I can, but I’m also very fortunate too. I’ve trained it for a long time and it tends to go, and go, and go, and I don’t really have lots of trouble with it.”
