The American actress was born on March 18, 1975, in Georgia.

She began acting at a young age, but became a full-time theater actress in the nineties.

Since then she’s starred in many productions both on Broadway and the West End in London.

She’s starred in musicals Grease, Les Miserables, Little Women, and Anything Goes.

Sutton has won two Tony awards, firstly in 2002 for Thoroughly Modern Millie and then in 2011 for Anything Goes.

Sutton was first married to actor and singer Christian Borle, a fellow Broadway theater star who has been nominated for five Tony Awards and has won two.

He took home two awards for his performances in Black Stache in Peter And The Starcatcher and the other as William Shakespeare in Something Rotten!

He met Sutton while studying for his Bachelor of Fine Arts in college.

The two appeared in Thoroughly Modern Millie together in 2003.

They married on September 18, 2006.

However, the pair divorced three years later in 2009, and Sutton said the split hit her for a while.

She said: “I kept equating it to, like, someone took my purse and dumped it out on the sidewalk.

“And it was all my stuff everywhere.

“And for three years I was sludging through mud to sort of rebuild myself and my relationships.”

Christian later said: “As life took its crazy winding turns and we ended up not being married anymore, it was always a priority for us to stay friends.”

They began working together in 2022.

According to a source speaking with Us Weekly, their rumoured romance was behind his split with wife Deborra-Lee Furness in September 2023.

A different source previously told Closer that Sutton’s “connection with Hugh was something no one saw coming,” adding, “they fell in love, plain and simple”.

They were spotted out and about on January 5, 2025 in Santa Monica, California.
