FANS will be shocked to learn that Chappell Roan previously auditioned for The Voice – but failed to get on the show.

The 27-year-old Pink Pony Club hitmaker is currently topping the charts and staying prominent on radio airwaves with her various funky hits.

But before finding fame and commanding attention around the globe, Chappell, whose real name is Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, was rejected from The Voice.

Appearing on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Chappell has revealed that she auditioned for the show when she was starting out.

Chatting to host Alex Cooper, Chappell was asked to sing the first song that popped into her head when she was given a scenario.

The first scenario was the song to belt out in the shower.

Chappell instantly started to sing Break Free by Ariana Grande.

She was then asked her go-to song when she needs a good cry.

The hitmaker then began to croon Rihanna’s hit Stay before making a shocking revelation.

‘I DIDN’T MAKE IT ON THE SHOW’

After singing part of the song, she said: “Stay by Rihanna, which I auditioned that for The Voice.

“I didn’t make it on the show.

“Thank God,” she added.

Although it’s not widely known that Chappell auditioned for The Voice, she did speak about it three years ago.

Speaking out in an interview with Illustrate Magazine in 2022, Chappell spoke about her career and how she auditioned for television talent shows but failed to make it.

“I grew up pretty much complete opposite of how I am now. Very shy, modest, prude vibes,” she said.

“I did school talent shows, auditioned for America’s Got Talent, The Voice.

‘HAPPIER THAN EVER’

“Eventually I got major label recognition whenever I released  my song Die Young at 16.

“Signed to Atlantic when I was 17, was signed with them for 5 years, then eventually got dropped in August 2020.

“Here I am now as an independent artist, happier than ever.”

Chappell is now enjoying global success.

In February 2025 at the 67th Grammy Awards, the hitmaker won her first Grammy Award for Best New Artist.

In her acceptance speech, she called for record labels to provide artists with a living wage and healthcare, saying: “Labels, we got you, but do you got us?”

Earlier this month she released new single The Giver on all platforms around the globe.
