ACTRESS Halle Berry got real about her health and how it’s impacted her relationship.
The 58-year-old, who met her longtime partner back in 2020, shared a surprising revelation about her love life during a recent talk show appearance. Here’s what we know about her partner, Van Hunt.
Who is Van Hunt?
Van, 54, is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and singer, and the boyfriend of Halle Berry.

At seven, he took up drums, and saxophone at the age of eight, and then learned to play the bass and keyboards.
Hunt has been playing the guitar and writing songs since he was a teenager, according to Hollywood Life.
He won the R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals Grammy for Family Affair in 2007, and was nominated for a Grammy for Urban/Alternative Performance for his song Dust.
Did Halle Berry and Van Hunt get married?
The Catwoman star did not get married to boyfriend Van.
On New Year’s Day 2022, they jokingly posted the ‘news’ on Instagram: “Well, it’s official!”
The fake announcement garnered over 250,000 likes and a flood of messages from fans congratulating the pair.
She wrote over a second photo of the pair: “It’s 2022!”
However, some fans rightly pointed out: “You got us good until I swiped right.”
Actors Octavia Spencer and Dwayne Johnson also congratulated the star by mistake.

TMZ reported The Rock originally hashtagged the “wedding” post with “#Gotcha” but appeared to edit it out.
According to E! News, Halle had been teasing her followers about her love life since the summer of 2020.
In July 2020, she posted a photo featuring her feet and those of, probably, the mystery man she was dating, and captioned it “Sunday, funday” with a red heart emoji.
Then in August 2020, she posted a similar photo and wrote, “Waking up Vegas!
“Thank you for all the beautiful birthday wishes from my friends and my very supportive and loyal fans!
“You ALL helped to make my birthday extra special.”
Also in August 2020, Van shared another photo of himself looking into the camera with Halle planting a kiss.
“Kisses land softly,” he wrote.
On Thursday, September 17, 2020, the Hollywood star posted a photo on Instagram, dressed in a paperboy cap and a T-shirt which read: “Van Hunt” – she captioned it with “now ya know…”.
However, speaking on the Drew Barrymore Show in February 2025, she revealed that not everything has been plain-sailing.
She said she was once misdiagnosed with one of the “worst cases” of herpes medics had seen.
On the show, Halle, who has become a strong advocate for menopause awareness, shared that she was actually experiencing perimenopause.
The misdiagnosis had a huge impact on her sex life, with Halle revealing that for six or seven months, intimacy felt like “razor blades.”
The Hollywood star didn’t hold back about how challenging that period was for their relationship.
She said she “tried to go to the bathroom” one morning and felt excruciating pain, explaining: “I couldn’t go. It was so painful … it took me almost 10 minutes to just empty my bladder because it was so painful.
“And substances were down there that I had never seen before and I thought, ‘What is this?’”
Sensing that something wasn’t right, Halle asked her boyfriend to drive her straight to the doctor because she was experiencing severe swelling in her intimate area.
Recalling the moment on the show, she said, “And he is doing the exam and looking up there and he said, ‘Yep, uh huh I think I know what this is,’ and I’m like, ‘What?!’ and he said, ‘It’s a really bad case of herpes.”
Shocked and confused, Berry admitted that she and Hunt spent the next 72 hours caught up in a blame game, both wondering how on earth one of them could have contracted an STI.
However, the doctor then called back to admit that it wasn’t the case.
She said it was a “defining moment” for her when the doctor acknowledged he didn’t know what it was.
The A-lister went on to say that the traumatic experience led her to take matters into her own hands, doing her own research to figure out what was really going on with her body.
“And that’s when I came up with Dry Vagina Syndrome, that women have when they are in perimenopause,” she shared.

Halle was previously married to Eric Benet, David Justice and Olivier Martinez.
She shares her eight-year-old son, Maceo Robert Martinez, with the French film director.
