Elon Musk has issued a final warning regarding a simple compliance test for government workers. The test required employees to type a few words and press send—yet, astonishingly, many failed. Due to the discretion of the president, these employees will be given a second chance, but failing to respond again will result in termination. This initiative aims to identify who is actually working in the government, given that millions of employees are on the payroll with little accountability.

A mass email was sent out to all federal employees, asking them to list five tasks they completed in the past week. The logic behind this was simple: if someone is actively working, listing five tasks should be easy. In response, one million federal workers submitted their bullet points—roughly half of the government workforce. However, the other million ignored the request. Given that responding to this request takes only five minutes, this level of non-compliance raises serious concerns.

Jesse Watters, on his show “Primetime,” highlighted how even his own staff could easily meet a similar challenge. He humorously shared examples of his team’s accomplishments, such as fixing a jammed printer, transcribing podcasts, and booking guests for the show. This underscored the absurdity of federal employees struggling to meet such a simple request.

The test isn’t just about bureaucratic efficiency—it’s about proving existence in the workforce. Reports suggest that some federal workers abuse remote work policies, with examples including an employee who “worked remotely” while running a farm and another who spent office hours napping at his desk. Another worker allegedly used a government vehicle daily to drive to a park for a nap. This initiative sheds light on how deeply inefficiency is embedded in the federal workforce.

The Small Business Administration also experienced a dramatic shift. Just last week, 80% of employees were still working from home, but following increased scrutiny, the majority suddenly returned to the office. The public is now realizing that taxpayers have been funding empty office spaces for employees who weren’t even showing up.

Jesse Watters pointed out that President Biden has failed to address these inefficiencies, instead choosing to fire employees who refused vaccination rather than those who refused to work. Unlike corporate leaders such as JPMorgan’s CEO, who emphasizes efficiency, the federal government seems unconcerned about productivity.

Beyond inefficiency, there is also the issue of government waste and misallocation of funds. Musk’s initiative has already identified $65 billion in savings. For instance, the government recently allocated $35 million for social and behavior change programs in Uganda, while America itself struggles with infrastructure and technology issues. Similarly, $70 million was allocated to Europe for “digital transformation” despite the fact that European nations benefit from U.S. military protection without shouldering comparable costs.

The problem extends to government contracting, with millions spent on unnecessary consultant fees for tasks like creating PowerPoint slides. Furthermore, questionable funding practices have come to light, such as a nonprofit organization that received $7 million in taxpayer money and was linked to the wife of Senator Sheldon Whitehouse. Such conflicts of interest fuel accusations of corruption.

As scrutiny intensifies, government officials and their allies are pushing back. Some Democrats, such as Representative Jasmine Crockett, have openly expressed their frustration, equating efforts to expose inefficiency with an attack on government institutions. Others have gone as far as likening these accountability measures to historical threats against democracy, demonstrating the extent to which political forces are resisting change.

Meanwhile, activists have been staging protests to fabricate public opposition against Musk’s efficiency drive. Reports indicate that some of these protests were orchestrated by groups funded by billionaire George Soros, further suggesting that much of the backlash is politically motivated rather than grassroots opposition.

Ultimately, Musk’s initiative is shining a spotlight on government inefficiency, waste, and corruption. By demanding accountability, he has triggered a reaction from entrenched bureaucrats who fear losing their grip on power. Whether this effort will lead to real change remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: the American public is waking up to the realities of how their tax dollars are being spent.
