Dave Edmunds, the Welsh rock musician, has suffered from a “major cardiac arrest,” according to a Facebook post from his wife, Cici.

Cici updated fans on Edmunds’ condition earlier this week, revealing the incident in graphic detail. Per her post, Edmunds died during the attack and was later revived by ICU doctors who intubated him.

“My beloved husband of 40 years has had a major cardiac arrest as I told you about in my previous post,” she wrote on Tuesday. “He died in my arms while I desperately tried to keep him alive while trying to clear his airways from all of the fluids that come out of a human beings [sic] body when we pass away.”

She added: “As I’m on the floor with Dave dead and lots of fluid is coming out of his mouth and the other places in his body. I keep my emotions in check, even though I’m absolutely heartbroken and terrified at the shock of having my beloved husband dead in my arms.”

After an unsuccessful attempt at performing CPR on the musician, ICU doctors revived Edmunds “by a miracle” via intubation, although Cici’s post notes that he “very clearly has brain damage and severe memory loss etc.”

“And the risk of yet another major cardiac arrest is high,” she wrote. “And if that occurs there is no chance for Dave…..”

Edmunds ended the post by asking for prayers and “good wishes” for her husband, and thanked them for their support this far.

“I’m still in shock and I believe I have PTSD from the horrific experience,” she wrote.

“Dave will have a very long journey ahead of him if he survives,” she concluded. “We both have.”

Edmunds, whose career launched in the late 1960s, has recorded over a dozen records as a solo artist and a member of the bands Love Sculpture and Rockpile. In 1970, he scored one of his best-known songs in the UK with a cover of “I Hear You Knocking,” originally by New Orleans blues musician Smiley Lewis.
