Damiano David, the lead singer of Måneskin, is stepping into a new chapter of his career with solo music. Speaking from the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, Damiano reflected on his feelings ahead of his performance: “It’s beautiful for me… I’m excited, but there’s no pressure. It’s just for fun,” he shared. He revealed that this solo project feels like a return to the excitement he had when he was younger.
He’s not just excited about performing live but also about playing unreleased music that’s personal to him. “Performing live is something I value a lot. I’ve learned to zone out from emotions and focus on the fun,” he said, looking forward to sharing his new work with fans.
When asked why now was the perfect time for him to pursue solo music, Damiano explained, “I listen to my body, and it told me this was the right time.” The project feels like a natural progression, and he’s enjoying the creative freedom that comes with it.
His solo music reflects a variety of influences, from classic rock bands like The Killers and The Strokes to the theatrical flair of Elton John. “It’s in my DNA,” Damiano remarked, acknowledging the blend of genres that has shaped his sound. He also shared that his partner, fellow musician Dove Cameron, is a trusted first listener of his music, always offering support.
A crucial part of Damiano’s journey is the support of his personal life, which he sees as essential for his happiness. “I’ve found someone who’s on the same track. It makes everything easier and more beautiful,” he shared, referring to his strong relationship with Dove.
As for his solo album, Damiano explained that it’s been therapeutic, helping him face his fears. “I wanted to show that we can be proud of our fears. They shape us, and facing them is the healthiest thing,” he said, describing the album as a “manual” for both himself and his fans, hoping they can relate to his struggles and growth.
On the creative process, Damiano found joy in experimenting with new sounds and ideas. The most fun part for him is the creative journey, from writing songs to imagining music videos and stage performances. “It’s beautiful to see your music come to life,” he added, especially when fans connect with it on a deeper level.
As he prepares for a world tour, Damiano is excited about designing the stage and creating an immersive experience. He wants to break the barrier between the stage and the audience, aiming for an interactive, unique show where fans can let loose and forget it’s just a performance. “It’s not about me on stage—it’s about them feeling something special,” he said.
Looking ahead, Damiano is deeply appreciative of the opportunity to share his music with the world and to help people through their own fears. “If my experiences can help others navigate their challenges, that’s the biggest achievement for me as an artist,” he concluded.
