STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – After Paul Castellano’s former address hit the market in October, the eight-bedroom, 17-bathroom neo-classical mansion garnered more than 25,000 views on Zillow and attracted a range of buyers from all corners of the United States.

“This palatial home has attracted many potential buyers and offers have been presented,” noted Joann DellaRocca, a listing agent with Connie Profaci Realty, who said she has been contacted by interested parties from “coast to coast.” “It really is magnificient.”

Best known as the “White House,” Staten Island’s precious claim to mob fame, where Castellano — a Gambino crime boss — conducted much of his business and raised his kids, the property features resort-like amenities and a $16.8 million price tag.

Far removed from its mafia roots – according to public record, the address has had a total of three owners, and has been vastly renovated since Castellano had it built in 1980 — the property still maintains a very public persona.

“Private Property Warning: This is a private property. It is not a public place. Therefore, you should be respectful and not step foot on the property without permission,” noted an article about the house on oddstops.com, a website which publicly lists pictures and details of crime scenes, filming locations, famous crash sites and serial killers’ houses.

Castellano’s house, which last sold in August 2000 for $3.1 million, is listed on the site as an NYC “place of interest.”

“Cossetted behind private gates, on exclusive Todt Hill, lies the World-Renowned Estate,” noted the listing for 177 Benedict Rd., which popped up on Zillow on Oct. 6. “Sprawled over 2 1/2 acres of pristinely manicured, elaborate grounds with [an] unobstructive [sic] view of the Verrazano Bridge [sic]. An entertainer’s dream home with extraordinary resort-like amenities.”

The home includes a wine cellar, personal beauty parlor and state-of-the-art home theater room. There’s a gym, sauna, solarium, library and indoor/outdoor Olympic size pools.

Referred to as “Big Paul,” Castellano presided over the Gambino crime family, considered to be NYC’s largest and most powerful forces in organized crime, during the 1970s and ‘80s.

He met a messy end at the hands of a four-man hit crew working for John Gotti on Dec. 16, 1985. The crew waited outside Sparks Steak House, wearing Black Russian fur hats and pale trench coats, and when Castellano got out of his car on his way to dinner, they riddled him with bullets.
