Maitlyn Ward, former co-star of Boy Meets World and Girl Meets World, recently opened up on the podcast Pod Meets World about her strained relationship with former co-stars Will Friedle, Ryder Strong, and Danielle Fishel. The episode, which focused on revisiting past experiences on the show, became tense as Maitlyn shared some of her grievances with the group, revealing unresolved issues from the past.
Maitlyn admitted that during her time on Girl Meets World, which came years after her late addition to Boy Meets World in season 6, she felt ignored by her former co-stars. When visiting the set of Girl Meets World, she claimed that they did not speak to her, saying, “I wouldn’t speak to you. No, I didn’t talk to you. Not really.” She also mentioned that she was unfriended on Facebook by one of the co-stars, although she expressed confusion about how that happened, claiming, “I did not unfriend you on Facebook. I don’t know how that happened.”
The conversation soon took a more serious turn as Maitlyn discussed the tensions surrounding the show’s creator, Michael Jacobs, and the lead actor, Ben Savage. She mentioned how her experience with Jacobs involved being yelled at, which left her feeling hurt. Maitlyn also referred to a rift between Ben and the rest of the cast, claiming that Ben had severed ties with his co-stars, including Will and Ryder. “I think there’s a divide because you guys hate Ben and you guys hate Michael,” Maitlyn said, addressing her former co-stars. While they denied any animosity, she clarified that her personal experience involved harsh treatment from Michael Jacobs, which contrasted with the more positive experiences of her co-stars.
The discussion also touched on Maitlyn’s career trajectory after her time on Girl Meets World. She pivoted from television to adult film work, which she claimed created some awkwardness behind the scenes. The actress acknowledged that the change in her career path led to some tension on the set, particularly as she began receiving a lot of media attention at the time. “I was on the cover of Maxim in 2014,” Maitlyn shared. She implied that the attention she received in the adult entertainment world made some of her former co-stars uncomfortable, but Friedle and Strong disagreed, saying they were not upset by her choices. “Two totally different journeys… and they’re both valid,” Ryder Strong said, agreeing that neither path was wrong.
The podcast episode revealed the complexity of the relationships between the Boy Meets World cast members, especially with the passage of time and the changes in their personal and professional lives. While Maitlyn admitted to feeling hurt by the way she was treated, she also acknowledged that the journeys of all the actors were different, and both paths were valid. The candid conversation allowed the former co-stars to reflect on their time together, sharing their own perspectives and experiences. Despite the past tensions, the episode ended on a more understanding note, highlighting that the cast members, despite their differences, all had unique and valid experiences in the entertainment industry.
