4 Non Blondes was a ’90s alternative rock band from San Francisco that split up in 1994, a year after the huge success of their single ‘What’s Up.’ Since then the one-hit-wonder has been covered many times, even by other celebrities such as famous singer Pink who performed the tune in 2009 for Coca Cola Live @ MTV.

The all-female rock band, consisting of bassist, Christa Hillhouse, guitarist, Shaunna Hall, drummer Wanda Day, and lead-singer, Linda Perry, met in 1989 and managed to sign a record deal with Interscope Records in 1991.
In 1992, during the recording of their debut album, ‘Bigger, Better, Faster, More’ the band’s guitarist, Shaunna Hall was replaced by Roger Rocha. At first the album didn’t sell too well, but as they decided to release one of the album’s songs, ‘What’s Up’ as a single the song became a worldwide success and ensured that ‘Bigger, Better, Faster, More’ sold a total of over six million copies.
Still the single ‘What’s Up’ turned out to be a one-hit-wonder as the tune remained the band’s only successful song, as the band didn’t get the chance to produce more music, when lead singer, Linda Perry decided to leave 4 Non Blondes in 1994.
While the band didn’t have any further successes after Perry left, the latter went on to achieve great things. The former lead singer removed herself from the limelight and became a successful producer and songwriter working with celebrities such as Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, or Pink.
