Susan Boyle takes acting lessons so she can star in film about her own life
Subo is studying under the acting maestro that trained the likes of Cameron Diaz and Al Pacino
Susan Boyle has splashed out on acting lessons – so she can have a cameo role in the film about her life.
The singer enrolled on a four day masterclass in June with Bernard Hiller – who has trained everyone from Cameron Diaz to Al Pacino.
Subo, 54, said: “In June I went to a course run by a fantastic man called Bernard Hiller. He was brilliant. It was a masterclass in acting that was based in London for four days.
“He’s worked with some of the best people in Hollywood and he taught us how to resolve performance nerves and self discovery as well as inside-outside acting and how to be public with private emotions. It was brilliant and it’s really helped with my performance on stage as well.”
The Britain’s Got Talent singer, who was a runner up on the show in 2009, first dreamed of acting when she was eight going on to complete her Lamda Speech and Drama examinations.
She made her first acting appearance as Eleanor Hopewell in The Christmas Candle in 2013.
And she is hoping her acting lessons will be enough training to land her a part in a film about her life. Meryl Streep is already in the running to play Susan.
She added: “I think it would be fun to have me in the various crowd scenes- almost like a Where’s Wally? See how many times you can spot the real Susan in the film!
“In all seriousness, I’m very excited about this project. The script is great and the team behind it are brilliant.”
And Susan, who has Asperger syndrome, a form of autism, says acting has helped control her emotions.
She said: “I like the fact it’s an emotional release. You get to hide in the role of a character and really explore the character and learn and delve and the emotions that maybe you can’t express in your day today life you can express through the character you are playing.
“It’s helped with confidence issues and made me feel part of a group.”
