Ronan Keating choked back tears as he remembered his late mother Marie 24 years on from her death.
In an Instagram video, the Boyzone frontman looked emotional as he opened up on his feelings as he discussed his parent, who died from metastatic breast cancer aged just 51.
The heartbreaking clip saw Ronan express his regret that Marie, who died when he was 20, didn’t get to see any of his five children, remarking: ‘It’s heartbreaking that she never got to meet them.’

Speaking into the camera, Ronan said: ’24 years ago today I lost my mum. My family and I went through the most horrible situation losing our mum.
‘Marie Keating, she died 24 years ago. She was 51 years of age, she died of cancer.
‘She was our best friend, she was a legend, she was as cool as they come. The best mum.’
Sharing his devastation that Marie passed before seeing significant moments in his life, Ronan continued: ‘She never got to meet her grandchildren [apart from his older nephews], she’s got so many incredible grandchildren.

‘It’s heartbreaking that she never got to meet them. I wonder about the conversation I’d have with my mum today, about my children, about my life.
‘So many things in the 24 years that I’ve been through and I’ve done that I’d love to share with mum.’
Ronan shares children Jack, 22, Missy, 20, and Ali, 16, with his first wife Yvonne Connolly, while he has Cooper, four, and 22-month-old Coco with model wife Storm, 40.
And the If Tomorrow Never Comes hitmaker told how his mum would be proud of the life he’s made, but admitted he misses her not being around to assure that ‘everything will be OK’.

He said: ‘When your mum puts her arms around you and says “everything’s going to be OK” – that feeling. I don’t get that anymore and there’s nothing like that feeling.
‘When you’re going through a tough time and your ma tells you “everything’s going to be alright”. Well then you think it’s going to be alright. That’s what happens.’
After he death, Ronan, his dad Gerry and his siblings Ciarán, Gerard and Gary and Linda created the Marie Keating Foundation – which focuses on raising the awareness of cancer and the importance of early detection, as well as supporting those fighting the disease.
Sharing an important message, Ronan went onto say: ‘Pay attention to your bodies, cancer is such a horrible disease, early detection is one of the best forms of survival’.

He the noted that his mother died of one of the most curable forms of the disease which he said was ‘heartbreaking’.
The father-of-five went on to say that he thinks of the conversations that he would have with his mother now, as he reflected on his five kids being ‘so grown up’ before sharing their personality traits and likes.
Choking back the tears, Ronan signed off my saying: ‘I miss you and I love you’ before blowing a kiss to the camera.
Ronan’s words comes after he detailed his son Cooper’s recent mystery illness that saw him rushed to A&E.
The singer told how he was left in distress after the four-year-old had to be taken to hospital and hooked up to oxygen just two months after his wife Storm experienced temporary paralysis after developed a rare condition called Cauda Equina Syndrome.

Speaking to The Mirror, Ronan told how he was looking forward to a quiet Christmas at home with his family after the recent health scares.
He said: ‘It was frightening. You’d give anything to get them back and healthy. You’d sacrifice anything to make sure your kids are OK.
‘I’ve been through the process of going to A&E, and spending four hours in the waiting room, then spending two nights in the hospital, my heart just breaking, their little faces on oxygen.
‘He just had a respiratory thing and was fine. It wasn’t anything serious in the end but it was serious enough that we had to go to A&E.’
