Viewers of Good Morning Britain were quick to pick up on a noticeable shift in Rob Rinder’s demeanour as he conducted a tense interview with Hannah Ingram-Moore,

the daughter of the late Captain Sir Tom Moore. During the live segment, Rinder, a former criminal barrister,

put Ingram-Moore under intense scrutiny regarding the recent controversy surrounding the Captain Tom Foundation.

This was Ingram-Moore’s first public appearance since the Charity Commission revealed findings that suggested she and her husband,

Colin Ingram-Moore, had personally benefitted from her father’s charitable legacy.

“I am asking you for the truth,” Rinder said pointedly. Ingram-Moore responded by discussing the emotional toll of the controversy, stating, “As I walk around, there are many people that talk about my father and the loss in my life. People weren’t able to discuss loss. The headlines were very negative, and we lost control of any sense of the truth. I had to bury my own grief.”

Despite this, Rinder continued to challenge her on the specifics of the book deals. When asked about where the money from the sales had gone, Ingram-Moore explained:

“He signed that contract with Penguin Random House, and I signed to say where the money was going on his behalf. He was alive, and he decided. It never said anywhere that sales would go to the charity, not us. We agreed it would go to support the launch of the charity, and money from the book revenue did support the charity.”

Rinder then pushed her further, asking if she felt any shame in light of the accusations. Ingram-Moore defended herself, saying, “When I look back at the last five years, we know that we own the truth, and what I can’t do is sit here and persuade everyone to believe our reality.”

She also reflected on the pandemic period, stating, “If you look back to that dark time of Covid, we as a family were in the same position as everybody else.”

While Ingram-Moore attempted to defend herself against the allegations, many felt that Rinder’s questioning left her struggling to provide satisfactory answers. His experience in the courtroom shone through as he dissected her responses, refusing to let vague explanations slide.

For many viewers, this moment reinforced why Rinder is such an effective interviewer—he combines professionalism with a no-nonsense approach, ensuring that difficult questions are answered. His ability to change his tone, shift gears, and apply legal expertise when needed made the exchange all the more compelling.

As for Ingram-Moore, public opinion remains largely divided. While some may sympathise with her claims of grief and media pressure, others remain unconvinced, believing that her actions have tarnished the memory of her father, a man celebrated for his inspiring charity work during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Regardless of where opinions fall, one thing is certain—Rob Rinder’s handling of the interview left a lasting impression, and for many viewers, it was a masterclass in holding public figures accountable.
