The NFL star went over to the Happy Days actor before the Chiefs’ 30-27 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers and the heartwarming moment was captured on camera.

As Mahomes ran over to embrace the actor, Winkler said: ‘Oh my… Oh I’m so happy to be here.’

The player responded: ‘I appreciate you coming. Yes sir, I got this for you right here, got you the jersey with the Winkler on the back and everything. That’s what I’m talking about.’

Winkler, who played Fonzie for 12 seasons on the iconic television show Happy Days, responded: ‘I’m having a great time. Thank you.’

Winkler expressed his admiration for Mahomes on the Rich Eisen Show in the summer.

Mahomes said he will take Winkler up on his dinner offer once the season finishes next year

‘He’s one of my heroes. That’s true. I root for that team, even though I have never lived there. I think he is just phenomenal to watch,’ he said.

The actor ended up inviting the star quarterback for dinner and Mahomes said he’ll accept the offer and grab a bite to eat with him once the season finishes next year.

‘I’m gonna take you up on that dinner though. Offseason I’m gonna make it happen,’ the 27-year-old football player said.

‘Absolutely. There is always a seat at my table for you,’ Winkler responded.

Mahomes and Travis Kelce ended up putting on a performance that made The Fonz proud.

Mahomes connected with Kelce for three touchdowns – including the go-ahead score with 31 seconds remaining – as the Kansas City Chiefs rallied past the Chargers to stay atop the AFC.

Kelce got in the act by wearing a t-shirt before the game that had a picture of The Fonz and said ‘Football. Family. Fonzie’.
