The San Antonio Spurs rookie Stephon Castle did not win the game against the Mavs to end his day like this, at least not with a crazy prank. After a 126-116 victory against Dallas, the Spurs celebrated the win with a lighthearted rookie prank on Castle.

In the viral video, his teammates took Castle to the parking lot while Devin Vassell took charge of the camera to shoot the whole prank. Castle was in disbelief when he found all four wheels of his white Toyota Supra removed. He had a surprisingly blank face while his teammates laughed at him.

Despite scoring eight points and playing an impressive 28 minutes off the bench, the 2024 NBA 1st-round draft pick was caught off-guard. Interestingly, All-Star De’Aaron Fox noted that Castle is unusual compared to other rookies.

Despite his unique status, Castle has been significantly impacting the court. He’s ranking at the top of the Kia Rookie of the Year Ladder. He has an impressive average of 13.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game. His strong performance only adds to a bright future for him. And he’s set to potentially form a compelling trio with De’Aaron Fox and fellow Spurs player Victor Wembanyama.

He is making a compelling case for the Rookie of the Year award and had fans reeling for him. With the Spurs struggling and unlikely to contend for the playoffs, Castle is getting the attention around the San Antonio bench.

Boston beats the odds again, turns garbage to gold to force Game 7
Once, a wise man told the fans of the Boston Celtics that anything was possible. And in Game 6 of the 2023 Eastern Conference finals as the Celtics could have let their title aspirations and their season slip through their fingers as Jimmy Butler made free throws to put the Miami Heat up 1 with just 3 seconds left, Boston’s Derrick White remembered that fact. A miraculous tip-in won the game for the Celtics and put Boston in a position to be the first team in the history of the NBA to overcome a 0-3 series deficit on their way to punching a ticket to face the Denver Nuggets in the 2023 NBA Finals and another chance at winning Banner 18. They will do it on Monday at home, playing for history on their home court of TD Garden. The hosts of the CLNS Media “Celtics Lab” podcast sat down postgame to talk over a memory that will live on in Celtics lore for the ages. As well as what they expect to see in the best thing the NBA playoffs has to offer — a Game 7. The Celtics Lab podcast is brought to you by Fan Duel and Better Help. Learn more about your ad choices. Devin Booker on splitting up the Jays, his and Tatum’s shared Kobe Bryant fandom and more
Sometimes, the best window into the state of a team is from the outside, the eye of an opposing player giving a new perspective to the echo chamber-like coverage one often sees within a team’s sphere of coverage. To that end, our own Cameron Tabatabaie got the goods on the Boston Celtics after their 2022 Finals run and build up to the looming 2022-23 season from Phoenix Suns star guard Devin Booker. The 2k23 cover star sat down with Tabatabaie to talk about everything from the newest iteration of the game his image now graces to the next car he plans to buy, but there was plenty of talk about the Celtics as well. Booker, in particular, had plenty to say about Boston’s top-rated defense. Check out this mini-pod from the NBA 23k3 Las Vegas Summer League to hear the Suns star chat about the Celtics, the league, and more while we wait for the Sin City Celtics to square off with the Summer Heat. Why Boston is probably not making big moves at the deadline with Yossi Gozlan
With the Boston Celtics rolling and their path to hanging Banner 18 looking more possible than it has in many years, you can’t fault fans of the storied ball club for hoping for a reunion with former Boston big men Daniel Theis or Kelly Olynyk. Or failing that, team president Brad Stevens getting a deal done for rumored target Isaiah Stewart to fortify the team’s frontcourt. But even fairly modest trades like these are probably not in the cards for the Celtics this season, who can’t follow through with an offer that makes sense given the exigencies of the NBA’s new collective bargaining agreement or the team’s current structure. But the team will almost certainly make at least a few lesser moves to get better ahead of the NBA’s 2024 trade deadline in Early February, so the hosts of CLNS Media’s “Celtics Lab” podcast linked up with Cap Sheets’ Yossi Gozlan to try to project what it is Boston actually will end up doing. We also get into why those fun but unrealistic deals bringing back Celtics alumni or Beef Stew are unlikely or impossible, and get caught up on the last Boston news of 2023. The Boston Celtics just beat the New York Knicks to kick off their 2023-24 campaign for an auspicious start of their pursuit of an NBA-record 18th title, and if their campaign ends anything like the official season simulation by the folks over at NBA 2k, Celtics fans will finally get back on top to pass their rival Los Angeles Lakers as the team with the most championships won. What did we take from the first game of Boston’s season? What can the NBA 2k simulation underscore about what we saw on Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden vs. the Knicks? The folks at the CLNS Media “Celtics Lab” podcast put together a rapid reaction to the real-life road win to start the 2023-24 season with HoopsHype’s Yossi Gozlan, then interviewed NBA 2k brand ambassador Ronnie 2k about how Boston won it all in the digital version of the season. As his teammates pulled off an absurd prank on him, social media supporters got his back.

“Okay this is a bit to far,” a fan commented.

“Wow. This is disgusting. If only they cared more about winning,” another fan commented.

“Don’t be shocked if you hear Castle demand a trade this summer,” a fan joked.

“He their best player request a trade Steph,” another user joked.

“I doubt any of them know how to take a wheel off,” a comment read.

What sets Castle apart is his ability to push through the so-called “rookie wall.“ A hurdle many young players struggle with as the season wears on. Unlike many rookies who taper off as fatigue from the extended schedule sets in, Castle seems to be thriving.
