GEORGE Stephanopoulos’ wife Ali Wentworth has admitted she’s worried about ‘keeping kids away ‘scaffolding’ kids away from the dark side of social media.
Ali shared a clip to her personal Instagram from actress Julia Roberts, who had spoken out about a candid photo with her niece Emma Roberts that had sparked a controversy on social media.
She noted that everyone talked about how “terrible” she looked in the picture, where the pair are simply playing cards at a table.
Julia also called out “the fights that would break out in the comments,” a common issue that plagues online discussions that happened with her photo.
“I was amazed at what that made me feel and I’m a 50 year old woman,” she admitted.
“I know who I am, and still my feelings got hurt, she said of the experience
“I thought ‘what if I was 15?’ God, that would be devastating,” the actress opined.
Ali, 59, responded to that part of Julia’s comment, agreeing with her about how important it is to figure out how to parent with social media so rampant in this world.
“Thank you to the incredible @juliaroberts for being spot on about the corrosive nature of social media and its effect on younger generations,” she wrote.
“As a parent who did not grow up with it, it is the Wild West trying to figure out how to scaffold our children from the dark side of social media.”
She didn’t elaborate on any of the potential challenges she may be having, but she does have two daughters: Harper, 18, and Elliot, 20, with husband George.
George recently fought back after his co-stars mocked him for his cooking skills.
He pitched in for a live cooking segment, but his attempts didn’t go over too well.
In a clip from the show shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, George, 62, was joined by celebrity chef Ming Tsai.
The duo made and taste-tested a selection of dishes for the Lunar New Year, while Ming also shared details about the cultural significance of the food for the Chinese holiday.
However, while Ming went from frying pan to blender at a fast pace, daytime TV star George struggled to keep up.
Kicking off the segment, the duo made pork and cabbage dumplings.
Ming instructed George to put a spoonful of filling on the wrapper, but immediately pointed out that he’d been far too generous in his portion.
After George spooned some out, Ming then showed him how to close and fold the parcels.
As Ming expertly pinched his dumpling, George created a much clumsier imitation.
“Not bad,” the television star said of his work.
“You’re close, you’re halfway there,” Ming diplomatically responded, before showing him how to fold the dumpling again.
“Yeah, that’s not bad, George,” he said, as he moved the host’s dumpling into the frying pan, before saying, “Yeah, you know,” as George reminded him it was his first time making them.
The duo and the audience burst out laughing at Ming’s tongue-in-cheek tone, with George exclaiming, “So it was bad! That’s what he’s saying.”
“No, it wasn’t bad, I mean, you’re not a dragon, right?” joked Ming, referring to the zodiac animal for 2024.
BOOKSMART
On-air blunders aside, George has plenty of other projects on the go, and lately revealed his latest side hustle; a book called The Situation Room: The Inside Story of Presidents in Crisis.
According to Amazon, the book will be released on May 14.
Robin Roberts first introduced the book on GMA back in October, and sat alongside George as he received a round of applause at the exciting news.
“I am so excited about this,” the host told his co-workers.
“We’ve been working it for about a year and a half. Just finished the edits on Saturday.”
George went on to say that it’s a “history of the White House’s Situation Room, which is the nerve center, created by John Kennedy.
“It’s really the place where all the crises are managed.”
Some examples he gave were 9/11, the killing of Osama Bin Laden, and the assassination of John F. Kennedy.
“I can’t wait for people to read it,” George excitedly concluded.
FAMILY MAN
George’s live cooking skills suggest that he may not be the chief chef of his family, whom he often gushes about on social media.
The star and his wife Ali Wentworth, 59, share two daughters: Elliott, 21, and Harper, 18.
Back in August, Ali admitted it was “brutal” having an empty nest as Harper headed off to college.
On Instagram, she lamented, “We dropped our baby off at college. Everyone is saying ‘she’s ready to launch’!
