Victor Wembanyama made an immediate impact in the NBA after being selected as the first overall pick last season. After winning the Rookie of the Year award, he quickly became the cornerstone of the San Antonio Spurs. Although the team’s overall record has not seen significant improvement, Wembanyama has consistently lived up to fans’ expectations with his performances.

Unfortunately, the rising star was recently diagnosed with a blood clot in his right shoulder. This devastating injury forced the Spurs to announce that he will be sidelined for the remainder of the season.

San Antonio is set to face the Houston Rockets on Wednesday at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. The 7-foot-3 French center will be absent from the game. Prior to his injury, he had played 46 games this season, but he has now missed three consecutive games due to health issues.

In addition to Wembanyama, the Spurs will also be without Charles Bassey, who is out due to a knee injury. Meanwhile, the Rockets have their own injury concerns, with Cody Zeller ruled out for personal reasons. Fred VanVleet (ankle), Jae’Sean Tate (back), and Dillon Brooks (illness) are all listed as questionable for Wednesday’s game.

Charles Barkley Sends Support To Victor Wembanyama After Season-Ending Injury

NBA legends have since expressed their support for Victor Wembanyama after learning about his season-ending injury. On NBA on TNT, Charles Barkley shared his heartfelt reaction to the young center’s situation. Barkley also touched on the fear and uncertainty that come with such a diagnosis.

“Number one, just wish him good health. That’s gotta be scary when you get that news. I just wish him nothing but the best. This is just a bad thing for the Spurs, for the NBA. When he played over in Paris, man, it was crazy those two games. Good luck to him and his family,” Barkley said.
