FILLING IN

Gio is beloved by GMA viewers for many reasons but among them is his close bond with his costars.

In January, he stepped in to fill in for Michael Strahan amid a family crisis for the former NFL star.

Michael stepped away from the show to focus on his daughter, Isabella, who was fighting brain cancer.

Gio co-hosted the show alongside Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos.

He also filled in for Michael on another show while the pro athlete was in California to film Fox NFL Sunday.
