Travis Kelce has never looked as bad as he did when he was out on the field against the Philadelphia Eagles for the Super Bowl.
The 2024 season was a trying year for him and easily one of his worst.
Naturally, the word ‘Retirement’ has come up several times, given his advanced age.
On the “New Heights” podcast with his brother, Jason, Kelce discussed the “wear and tear” his body has endured throughout his 12-year NFL career and acknowledged that retirement is a possibility.
In the discussion, Travis Kelce sounded like a man who might nearing the end.
“I know everybody wants to know whether I am playing next year and right now I am just kicking everything down the road. I am kicking every can I can down the road,” said Kelce, a three-time Super Bowl champ. “I am not making any crazy decisions, but right now the biggest thing is just being there for my teammates and being there for my coaches understanding there’s a lot that goes into this thing. I’ve been fortunate over the past five, six years, I’ve played more football than anybody…
“The fact that we keep going to these AFC Championships and Super Bowls, that means I’m playing an extra three games more than everybody else in the entire league. That’s a lot of wear and tear on your body.
“It’s a lot of time in the building … That process can be grueling. It can weigh on you. It can make you better, and it can drive you crazy. Right now, it was one of those things where it was driving me crazy this year. It happens as you tail off towards the back nine of your career.”Travis, who has played his entire professional career with the Chiefs, had the roughest year of his career in 2024.
The future Hall of Famer had career lows of 823 yards and three touchdowns this season.
Production-wise, Travis Kelce had his seventh-straight season with at least 90 receptions but still recorded his lowest total receiving yards of his career.
In the year’s final and most important game, Kelce generated four catches on six targets for 39 yards in the Kansas City Chiefs’ 40-22 blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday at the Caesars Superdome.
Travis Kelce Could Find Himself Being Cut
Travis Kelce will likely need to make a decision on his career very quickly, or it might be made for him.
