Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager took a look into the former’s past on the new episode of Today With Hoda & Jenna, with the two watching archival footage from some of Kotb’s early holiday reporting.

While watching, Kotb couldn’t hold in the laughs, later recounting exactly how the memorable moment came to be.

In the video, which Today shared via Instagram, a young Kotb stunned in a bright purple sweater with a patterned shawl over the top, along with statement dangling earrings and her hair blown out.

“Welcome back. Today is the day of a very festive season, and I have the most festive gentleman of them all with me. Santa Claus is here,” she began, introducing the segment.

Kotb and Santa sat with a few small kids in front of them, talking about how his “journey” was the night before.

Immediately after the throwback clip ended, Bush Hager said, “There’s a lot to unpack.” Kotb then revealed that she “mic’d [Santa] on his beard, ’cause I didn’t know what to do. I was like, ‘This seems good enough.’”

Then Bush Hager pointed out another interesting detail in the video, saying, “You had a full-on Southern accent,” with Kotb throwing her head back laughing and clapping.

Kotb recalled preparing for the segment, calling it a “big deal” to report with Santa, putting on the shawl and earrings and blowing out her hair, saying, “It takes a lot of work.”

Fans were just as stunned by the clip, with replies like, “this memory is perfection! but lmaooo @ jenna 😭🤣,” and “This is so great and Jenna’s reaction was priceless 😂.”

“You look so cute Hoda! That is that fly girl 80’s haircut and style 🔥🔥🔥🔥,” said another, while someone else chimed in, “Loving 🥰 the hair please bring more of Hoda’s career before she goes ❤️.”

“This is an absolutely priceless gem of a find! Just like Hoda!” read a heartfelt reply from a fan.

Fans have enjoyed the look down memory lane as everyone prepares to say goodbye to Kotb, with her last show on Today set for Jan. 10.
