Wendy, 59, has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia.

Though that wasn’t discussed on The ViewWhoopi Goldberg did announce it to the audience at the end of the episode.

Alex, 34, did her best to help discuss what had been going on with her aunt as of late instead.

She is an anchor and reporter who’s part of the Local 10 News team in South Florida.

She joined the newsroom in May 2018.

Alex took it upon herself to tell her aunt’s story on The View as she had been holding on to the family’s secrets for some time.

“I would love it if my aunt could be here today to tell her story,” she said.

“But unfortunately, she’s not. So I’m doing the best I can.”

Fans were shocked when they realized where they had seen Alex before.

They descended on X, formerly known as Twitter, to let others know why the news anchor might look familiar.

“Alex Finnie looked familiar unitl I checked it. Yes she is a local reporter for ABC Miami. Just didn’t know she was related to Wendy,” one fan wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Oooh, now I recognize her,” another fan wrote after posting a screenshot of Alex reporting the news on the ABC affiliate channel.

WHOOPI’S WOES

At the end of the same episode Alex appeared on, Whoopi broke her silence about Wendy.

While speaking to Alex during the episode, The View’s panelists did not discuss the diagnosis, likely as it had not broken at the time.

Whoopi, 68, looked into the camera to deliver the shocking news.

“We wanted to update you on some news that has just broke concerning Wendy Williams,” she said minutes before the show ended.

“Wendy and her care team just released a statement that she’s been diagnosed with primary aggressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia. Our hearts go straight out to her,” the View moderator added.

“We want to say thank you for watching and thank you all to coming. Count your blessings,” she added before the episode ended.

The news had just come out in the middle of The View’s airing on Thursday afternoon.

There were no further details to add about the statement at that time, however, beyond Wendy’s official diagnosis.

WHOOPI’S WRATH

Recently, Whoopi snapped at one of her co-hosts on The View who had been passing notes.

The View panelists had something they needed to share with each other during a recent episode.

She was in the middle of discussing a story about a couple on Reddit when she stopped in the middle of her sentence.

The camera immediately cut to Sunny Hostin, who giggled to herself.

“You guys are passing notes on television?” Alyssa Farah Griffin asked incredulously.

“I feel like I’m in church right now,” squeaked Sara Haines.

Joy Behar just shook her head with a smile.

“We can’t take you guys anywhere,” Alyssa, 34, said jokingly.

“Well, share it with the class, write it down,” Whoopi commanded.

“We can’t. Joy and I share things that are inappropriate,” Sunny, 55, said as she looked out at the audience.

“Silence is golden right now,” Joy, 81, said.

“Thank you. I’m just trying to do our job,” Whoopi joked as she steered the conversation back on track.
