Despite the Chiefs superstar’s undoubted greatness he only has two regular season MVP awards to his name.

Lamar Jackson also has two during Mahomes time in the league, as does four-time winner Aaron Rodgers, while Tom Brady was the MVP in Mahomes’ first season.

So if it’s not going to be the Chiefs gunslinger, it’s highly likely to be another quarterback – but who?

Jordan Love. Green Bay have pulled off another master class at sitting and developing talent in the QB position.

Very few franchises have had generational talent after talent in that prized position. Year 2 for Love starting in the offense and he found his rhythm last season.

They are very young at receiver and as he grows the rest of the young core will grow with him. If Green Bay lives up to the billing, then Love is my front runner for MVP.

I think its gonna be C.J. Stroud. His has got his weapons, and he has got his offensive coordinator Bobby Slowick for the second year now.

The way he is as a pocket passer he is going to progress this year and they have got Joe Mixon which is going to give them a bit ore of physical running game.

I just think he has got it.

Dak Prescott. I might be picking the Dallas Cowboys quarterback purely for the drama, I’ll be honest, but there is some logic to it.

Bad running game? Prescott will air it out more. Exceptional wide receiver he’s proven to have chemistry with? Prescott will air it out more.

Head coach under pressure to win after poor post season performances?

Prescott will…you get it.

At the end of the day Prescott is a QB that has proven he can get it done in the regular season. The play offs is a different matter, but that is redundant in MVP conversations.

And the drama? He’s yet to sign a new contract and an MVP season this year means whoever signs him in 2025 will be shelling out the biggest deal in NFL history….by a large margin.

Joe Burrow – MVP is a regular season award, that’s when the voting happens, and I think Joe leads a big Bengals bounceback.

C.J. Stroud. It’s a little early to give Stroud this much credit, but he was that good as a rookie and has better talent surrounding him in 2024.

If the Texans rival the Ravens and Chiefs in the AFC, Stroud will be an easy vote.

You’d be forgiven for thinking Patrick Mahomes has MVP awards stacking up – you’d be right, at least as far as the Super Bowl is concerned.

However the three-time Lombardi winner has a perfect three of them in the big game – but he has just two for the regular season. That will change in 2024.

Two for any normal quarterback would be spectacular, but Mahomes is unquestionably the best player in the league. He has improved offensive weapons, including Travis Kelce maybe enjoying one final season.

Mahomes usually has a way of doing just enough, as the Chiefs did for most of last season. Not this season – he lights it up from Week 1 and the legend grows.

If the MVP was given to the best player in the NFL, it’d be awarded to Patrick Mahomes every season.

But that’s not the way voting goes, and so this year I think the MVP will be Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love.

I’m all in on the Packers this year. They’re young, they’re deep, and I think they’re in for a monster season, potentially racking up 11-12 wins.

The MVP is usually given to the quarterback (no non-quarterback has won the award since running back Adrian Peterson did it in 2012) on a winning team, with a No.1 or No.2 seed.

Enter Love.

Last season was his first full season as a starter and he was the best QB in football for the last ten games of the regular season.

He threw the second-most passing touchdowns (32) in the 2023 regular season, and helped make the Packers the youngest team to win a playoff game since the 1970 NFL/AFL merger.
