KELSEY Grammer shares a major update on the Frasier reboot following its axe after just two series.
The star is confident his Frasier revival with CBS Studios will find a new home for its third series.
Kelsey, who reprised his role in the Paramount+ series, revealed that the project had been passed between executives.
He explained it ended up in hands less passionate than that of the original executive who shepherded the project.
“The fellow that worked at Paramount Plus when we first sold the show there left.
“And so it sort of fell into their laps, the next administration, without having any real conscious and what to do with it.
“So I think they gave it sort of a good try, but they weren’t particularly passionate about the project,” he told the New York Post.
He added: “We’ll end up somewhere where people are passionate about it.
“Listen, it’s got a huge audience, a big following, and if people know where to find it, I think they will.”
Nicholas Lyndhurst, who plays Kelsey’s friend Alan Cornwell in the sitcom also has no intention of giving up on his American dream after cracking the States in his early sixties.
The Sun revealed the Only Fools and Horses legend is staying loyal to Kelsey and hoping the Frasier reboot will be picked up by a new network after Paramount decided against renewing a third season.
He believes in the project and feels the foundations are in place to build on the first two series.
A source close to Nicholas said: “The early episodes were a little shaky but they improved very quickly.
“It takes time for the writers and actors playing the characters to really interact, and the second series saw that begin to pay off.
“The writers knew who they were writing for and it got even better, so Nick and Kelsey and all involved would want the series to continue given the amount of creativity expended.”
Nicholas and Kelsey first met starring in the 2019 West End musical Man of La Mancha and formed a close bond.
The veteran US actor brought him on board for the Frasier comeback nearly two decades after it last aired.
The rebooted show follows Frasier in the next chapter of his life after he returns to Boston to face new challenges, forge new relationships, and finally fulfill an old dream or two.
Kelsey teased that a third season could include Ted Danson, his former co-star on Cheers, the show where the Frasier character was born.
Kelsey and Ted apparently recently made amends after the duo spent 30 years without speaking to one another.
Kelsey informed the Post if not on new episodes of Frasier, he and Ted are thinking of ways to work together again.
