Now this is crazy work. Travis Kelce, what are you doing? The whole wide world has been speculating about whether or not Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift already are, or are on the brink of getting, engaged. And now, he’s out here winking and grinning like, I don’t know maybe.

During the Super Bowl opening night event on February 3, Kelce was asked point-blank if he was going to propose during halftime (as if there isn’t already going to be a show going on by Kendrick Lamar). Instead of just saying no or yes, Kelce decided to get cute with it and replied, “Wouldn’t you like to know,” with a smile, per People. What kind of answer is that!

Now, if I were a betting person, I’d wager that Kelce does not pop the question during the Super Bowl. Not only would this literally be the most public of all possible public proposals, but it would also pull focus from the actual game—which I hear for some people is a bigger deal than Kelce and Swift’s possible engagement. And for what it’s worth, the betting markets, according to The Athletic, agree with me. But, as they say in Dumb and Dumber, we’re saying there’s a chance.

Fans began speculating that Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift were headed for engagement, well, since the moment they started dating actually, but took it into overdrive on January 26 after their romantic on-field moment. The Kansas City Chiefs had just defeated the Buffalo Bills, securing the team’s spot in the Super Bowl. Swift rushed to the field to join her boyfriend, where the couple shared several hugs, kisses, and “I love yous.” Said Kelce, per one video, “I love you so much.” Swift responded, “I’m so proud of you.”

In general, Travis Kelce doesn’t usually play coy when it comes to how much he loves his girlfriend. In the same February 3 press conference, he said, “I better hold up my end of the bargain. She’s up there being the superstar that she is and never taking no for an answer and always working her tail off. I better match that energy for sure.”
