WENDY Williams’ son Kevin Hunter Jr.’s life without his mother in Miami has changed drastically since the star was placed in a guardianship in 2022.
Wendy’s only child, who lived in the lap of luxury and enjoyed the financial perks of growing up as the son of a wealthy TV star, is now living a much different life after her finances were taken over by a court-appointed guardian.
Kevin, 23, who was previously fully financially supported by Wendy, no longer has the extra cushion her credit cards once afforded him.
These days, the 23-year-old can be seen driving around Miami in what appears to be a rather beat-up 2019 Honda Civic while attending school and promoting various parties he’s throwing around town for cash.
According to court records obtained by The U.S. Sun, Kevin has a 529 plan his mother set up for him, which has limited and set funds that he has access to as he is currently enrolled as a full-time student at Barry University.
During the Lifetime docuseries about Wendy’s life over the past few years, Kevin made statements about spending his mother’s money on her credit cards which left viewers stunned.
Kevin told Lifetime cameras, “When my mom was living down here, as one can imagine, it’s not a cheap lifestyle.
“The courts tried to frame it as though I was making all these charges for my own happiness.
“My mom has never been a cheap person so whether to be flying her back and forth on private planes or even paying for appointments,” he explained.
“It was all under one American Express.”
His cousin, Travis Finnie, then revealed that Kevin ended up spending over $100,000 of his mom’s money on food delivery apps.
“To put it into perspective, Kevin’s birthday party that his mom threw was $120,000,” Wendy’s nephew explained.
“Kevin’s rent was $80,000. Kevin’s Uber Eats probably exceeded $100,000 that his mom approves.
“So for them to have a court case and ripping him away from taking care of his mother is very questionable.”
WHERE IS WENDY?
As The U.S. Sun previously revealed, Kevin doesn’t know exactly where his mother is – and he cannot call her either.
“Kevin has spoken to his mom occasionally, and he knows she’s in some sort of treatment facility, but he’s not sure exactly what it is, or where it is,” an insider said.
“He is also questioning if she’s getting the care she really needs.”
The insider also claimed that Wendy’s conservator, Sabrina Morrissey, has been nearly impossible to reach.
When The U.S. Sun first interviewed Kevin in June 2023, he said he did not know where his mother was, only that he knew she was getting help.
During the interview, which was just weeks after Wendy was rushed to a hospital following an incident at her apartment in May, Kevin said he was unaware that his mother had been moved out of New York.
Wendy’s publicist at the time stated that the star was removed from the state but did not indicate if they knew where she was either.
The U.S. Sun previously reached out to Sabrina Morrissey for comment.
In recent photos obtained by The U.S. Sun, Kevin looked stressed out and despondent in Florida as he allegedly remained unable to reach out to his mother.
TERRIFYING DIAGNOSIS
As The U.S. Sun previously exclusively reported, Wendy was diagnosed with alcohol-related brain damage in 2019 during a rehab stint in Florida.
An insider explained that there was a brain scan done as part of Wendy’s rehab stay in Delray Beach that year.
After the scan, a neurologist sat down with the star, her son, and her then-husband, Kevin Hunter Sr., 51.
“The doctor explained to them that Wendy was suffering from alcohol-related brain damage. They told her that her alcohol abuse had done permanent damage to the layers in her brain,” the source said.
“She was warned then and there that if she continued to drink, the damage would only get worse.”
In that meeting, they gave Wendy a devastating prognosis.
The doctors at the rehab foretold of the eventual decline of Wendy’s cognitive abilities, which has become apparent to those who have come in contact with the star in recent years.
“They told her that if she kept drinking, she would continue to grow more forgetful, that she wouldn’t remember people’s names, and eventually, she could forget who people even were,” the source said.
