or many experts, the Kansas City Chiefs are the new NFL dynasty, and there’s little that can be argued against it: with three Super Bowls won in the last five years, the team led by Andy Reid has become the rival to beat in the league. To make things even better, this year they started the season as favorites to win the Lombardi Trophy again and achieve what no other team in history has: the first three-peat in the Super Bowl era.

During the preseason, with the addition of rookie receiver Xavier Worthy, things looked promising for the reigning back-to-back champions. However, since the regular season began, they haven’t exactly been at their best, despite boasting a 3-0 record. The Chiefs have won their games against the Ravens, Bengals, and Falcons, but it has been more thanks to their defense and a few crucial plays that saved them

Among all this, one aspect has stood out: the lack of connection between the two most famous stars of the team, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. The Chiefs’ tight end has only made 8 receptions (No. 95 in the NFL) for 69 yards (No. 118) and has no touchdowns (No. 92) in three games. Kelce is considered one of the best in his position, but something is going on between him and Mahomes that just isn’t working.

Some fans and analysts suggest it’s due to changes in the Chiefs’ offensive line, Kelce’s age, or that teams have adjusted, making Kelce less free than before. But perhaps the real reason lies off the field, involving their partners: Brittany Mahomes (Patrick’s wife) and pop superstar Taylor Swift (Kelce’s girlfriend).

Taylor and Brittany feud over political differences

This year, presidential election are taking place in the United States, and it’s their political preferences that have caused a rift between them. While they haven’t stopped talking, there have been certain frictions that might be transferring to the Chiefs’ playing field.

Several weeks ago, Brittany stirred controversy when she liked a post supporting Donald Trump, the Republican candidate. Although she tried to downplay it, Brittany received thousands of negative comments in response. Weeks later, Taylor posted a message on her social media openly supporting the Democratic candidate, Kamala Harris.

As a result of these incidents, things have changed. Previously, at every Chiefs home game, both were seen in the same box, enjoying themselves and supporting the team and their respective partners. Since they revealed their political preferences, they’ve distanced themselves: they no longer share a box, haven’t appeared together in photos or gatherings, and although Taylor recently attended Patrick Mahomes’ birthday party, it’s clear that the relationship between Taylor and Brittany hasn’t been the same since.

Could politics be a factor in why Patrick and Travis aren’t having the same chemistry they once did, which brought them so much success? Coincidentally, Kelce hasn’t received as many passes from Mahomes on the field, and this could cost the team dearly sooner or later. We’ll have to wait and see if in the coming weeks, Kelce and Mahomes start reconnecting as they used to, or if the political differences between their partners will end up destroying their hopes for the coveted three-peat championship.
