GOOD Morning America’s Michael has admitted he was embarrassed while watching moments from his football career.
During Tuesday’s episode of Good Morning America, the hosts decided to check out some old videos of Michael playing football.
The anchors had been chatting about an up-close look of the big moments from the winning team Kansas City Chiefs’ time at the Super Bowl.
Lara Spencer mentioned that the crew had dug up some clips of Michael, 52, noting he had “experience” while being “mic’d up” on the football field.
Michael used to play as a defensive end for the New York Giants.
The crew played a montage of some of Michael’s moments while on the field.
In some instances, he screamed loud after pulling off a great play.
He did a bit of trash talking in others.
Back in the studio, Michael had a hard time watching some of it.
“I’ll be honest, I’m so embarrassed by that,” he told the rest of the GMA crew.
“I love seeing that,” Lara, 54, said of Michael’s enthusiasm on the field.
“Do you feel the mic on you?” Robin Roberts asked.
“You don’t really feel it on you, because they snake it in your pads and it’s kind of behind you,” Michael replied.
Lara suggested that players probably forget the mics are there.
“But you know, you don’t, that’s the problem. Sometimes, you feel like you have to say things. You go over to the side with your teammate, but then you go ‘I’m mic’d up’ so they know and they don’t say anything intimidating,” he explains of the process.
He also added that he thought the Super Bowl players wearing microphones were being “careful” while they were dealing with the same situation.
DOTING DAD
Michael recently spent time with daughter Isabella as she began her chemotherapy treatment.
In the hospital, the Good Morning America host gave his daughter a sweet kiss on the forehead after she revealed all of her current worries and concerns.
Isabella, 19, shared a new installment of her YouTube series chronicling her brain tumor battle.
The teen, who revealed her diagnosis on Good Morning America last month, has started chemo at Duke University Hospital Cancer Center in North Carolina.
At the start of the new vlog, Isabella showed off her “big bag of chemo.”
“I’m stressing myself out because I feel like everything could just go wrong with me at any moment,” she said.
She said she was worried her leg might just start twitching or her “organs just shut down.”
Isabella’s sister, Sophia, and her dad’s girlfriend, Kayla, both had something to say about her intrusive negative thoughts.
“Can’t you just chill,” Sophia asked.
“Let’s talk positive,” Kayla told her. “Positive thinking!”
CHECKING UP
Later, her dad, Michael, came to visit with her favorite Chick-fil-A breakfast and gave her a sweet forehead kiss.
Before entering her room, he explained how he washed his hands, wore a mask, and used automatic doors as part of the hospital’s protocol.
Michael only lowered his mask to give Isabella a quick forehead kiss as a hello before putting it back on and giving her a second breakfast to enjoy.
Halfway through the video, Isabella decided to give fans a short tour of her private room, which featured a kitchenette, bathroom with a small tub, a couch, and two TVs.
The teen made sure to note, though, that the televisions don’t have Netflix and that the sound came out of her remote, instead of the actual TV speakers.
At the end of the vlog, Isabella revealed the large bandage on the back of her head as she got up to take a lap around the floor outside her room.
She said she usually tries to take one or two laps when she goes for her walks.
The 19-year-old and her family stopped for a moment outside her room after Michael spotted a whiteboard filled with encouraging notes.
He decided to pen one of his own, writing, “You got this! Faith & love.”
Last week, Isabella posted a vlog about getting her port put in ahead of the start of her chemo treatment.
“So I’m getting my port placed today, which is a device that goes on your chest for administering chemo [and] getting my blood drawn,” Isabella explained from her hospital bed in the video.
“All that fun stuff,” she said sarcastically, before adding, “I’m not excited.”
Though her dad wasn’t in that video, Isabella’s mom and her dad’s girlfriend were both there to lend support.
