GOOD Morning America’s Lara Spencer has revealed her mom’s cancer battle after admitting to the scariness of the past few months.

Lara posted a new photo to her personal Instagram account while posing with her mother Carolyn von Seelen.GOOD MORNING AMERICA - 9/7/21 - Good Morning America airs Monday - Friday 7-9am, ET on ABC. (Photo by Lou Rocco/ABC via Getty Images) LARA SPENCER

In it, the pair held up bingo cards while grinning wide.

“Who’s feeling lucky?” she asked in the photo’s caption.

“No one more than me–spending the week with the most positive person I have ever known. You picked the wrong girl, cancer. Love you mom. You got this. #bingo.”

Lara, 54, didn’t elaborate on her mother’s cancer diagnosis further.

However, she did allude to a “scary” time for her family in a previous post past December.

She did not give more of an explanation than that at the time.

The anchor’s fans and followers did come to the post and offer well-wishes for the pair.

“Sending healing prayers to your Mom and she will heal and recover,” one wrote.

“If your Mom has half of your positivity, enthusiasm and zest for life, she’s going to kick cancer to the stars!” another commented.

“Keep those positive thoughts going! You can do this!” a third wrote.

“Praying for your mom!” a fourth offered.

‘SO THANKFUL’

Lara’s announcement she had been dealing with “scary” family news came at the end of 2023, but she quickly deleted her initial post.

Her new upload went up with a few photos missing, which Lara, 54, acknowledged in her caption.

“Before we get to Christmas, I have to catch up and post some of the many special pictures from our Thanksgiving,” she wrote.

“We didn’t have everyone there-but having 3 out of her 5 kids made my mom really happy, not to mention lots of the grandkids and her two adorable great grands! it’s been a scary couple of months for her, and all of us, and we were so thankful for the time together. (And yes, i have left out all photos not approved by a certain someone lol:).”

The GMA anchor’s original caption read much differently.

“I blinked and it’s almost Christmas, so I really need to post these beautiful shots from Thanksgiving already,” she had written.

“It’s been a scary couple of months for our family, but we are strong, unified, and so very grateful for each other. And you. Merry Christmas everyone.”

Among the photos in her second post, there was one of Lara posing with family members in a denim top and a dark tartan skirt.

Another found her posing outside with her husband, pets, and children in the same outfit.

Lara stood in the same yard holding a roasted turkey with a thermometer still in it for another snap.

With multiple members of the family showcased in each photo, Lara made it clear how close everyone was and how they had leaned on each other during a difficult year.

ALL NATURAL

Lara was seen spending some time in NYC wearing a a casual look in a new set of off-duty photos in October.

The 54-year-old was spotted in sweats outside of the morning show studio.

The star was all smiles in the new photos.

A security guard helped her stay dry as he held up an umbrella for her as she walked around outside GMA.

She looked cozy and warm in a casual outfit of green jogger pants, a black zip-up, and white sneakers.

The TV personality also wore a black beanie, which she continued to pull down to ensure she stayed as dry as possible.

While she tugged on the hat with one hand, her other hand was filled with her belongings.

She held onto a purse and a shopping bag on her arm, while her hand held onto her pink phone and white travel mug.

This is a much different look from how Lara appears when she’s on camera.

The star is known for rocking glam looks on GMA, especially bright pink ensembles.

Her casual hoodie look also had a special connection to her daughter as it was a Vanderbilt University sweatshirt.

EMPTY NESTER

Lara’s daughter, Kate, began her first year at the university in Nashville, Tennessee last year.

In August, the TV star admitted she had a “lump in [her] throat” while sending her teen off to college.

When George Stephanopoulos’s wife Ali Wentworth shared a post with similar sentiments about dropping off their daughter, Harper, at the same university, Lara tried to console her.

She revealed that she felt the same way about Katharine’s departure.

“I hear you sister,” Lara wrote. “I am at the airport with a giant lump in my throat. I don’t want to leave. It’s going to feel too real.”

She added, “The house will be too quiet. The music won’t be blaring. Her room will be neat. My clothes will not be missing. I don’t like it one bit.”
