A distressed new resident of New York broke down and cried in Drew’s lap while sharing her story

FANS have praised Drew Barrymore after she offered comfort and support to a sobbing audience member.

The former child star left the crowd in tears after answering an emotional fan question.

Drew, 49, allowed a guest in her audience to share her experience as an immigrant from Italy who has lived in New York City “since August.”

The young girl, named Lexie, immediately broke down in tears as she attempted to share her story, which prompted the 50 First Dates star to walk closer and hold her hand.

The fan asked if she could hug the Drew Barrymore Show host, to which she replied, “Of course!”

Drew and her guest embraced and then fell back together into the stands, as the whole crowd erupted into laughter.

Once the fan was settled in the movie star’s lap, she explained her story of moving from Italy and how homesick she had become.

The ET alum began offering her advice, saying, “Transitions are really difficult, nobody talks about that.

“If you wanted to get here and you got here, isn’t that a big deal?”

Lexie confessed that she “cried the first three months” of her international move, but Drew noted that she had “made it through” that period.

“What have you done that you’re proud of yourself for? Drew asked, to which the guest explained that although she is “super shy,” she booked a one-way ticket and moved to New York by herself.

The host replied, “OK, so you faced a fear and you did it alone. You’re brave, you’re bold, you have somebody. Give yourself this time and be honest.

“What can you do with [the next] six months? Don’t sit in fear and wait for the clock to run out. Be as proactive as you’ve been.

“So whatever it is that is your dream, go after it.”

The official Drew Barrymore Show Instagram account shared the special moment, leaving fans to flood the comments section with compliments for the actress.

Lexie started things off with a heartfelt message to Drew, thanking her for being her support in that difficult moment.

“Hiii! I’m the girl in the video. Thanks for listening to my story. I followed a lot of your advice,” she penned.

“I am grateful for the beautiful words spoken. after talking to you I felt better, understood and free. your advices is having a really big impact on my life.

“You helped me understand several things that I wasn’t ready to metabolize. You have changed the way I see my life now, and I will forever be grateful to you Drew. Thank u so much,” she gushed.
