On Monday, One Day at a Time actress Valerie Bertinelli, 63, appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show to talk about her new cookbook Indulged.

Drew Barrymore has sparked some controversy during her recent interview

In a video posted on the US daytime TV show’s Instagram profile, the Food Network host discussed with Drew, 49, about the hardships she experienced in 2022.

In 2021, she filed for divorce from her ex-husband Tom Vitale citing irreconcilable differences. Their split was finalized the following year.

“2022 was probably the worst year of my life. I hit rock bottom. I didn’t find joy in anything anymore, I didn’t want to cook anymore. I thought ‘I’ve got to get myself out of this.’

“I’m finally in a house that doesn’t feel that I’m walking on eggshells anymore. I can live my life now so how am I gonna live it? I’m gonna be intentional and I’m gonna find joy again and it starts in the kitchen, for me,” she said.

To get her life back on track, she continued working with her team on recipes for her book.

Valerie said, “Unless and until I was ready to actually feel my emotions and work through them and not numb them with food or alcohol, I wasn’t going to change my life.

“It’s taken me two very long years to get here and I’m just so flippin’ grateful.”

From 2015 to 2023, Valerie had her cooking show on the Food Network called Valerie’s Cooking and was a host on Kids Baking Championship.

‘I WAS TOO DISTRACTED!’

While many fans commented positive messages to Valerie, others had to mention Drew sitting extremely close to the Golden Globe Award-winning actress.

One viewer questioned, “Why does Drew have to sit so close to her??”

Another said, “Drew! Getting into ppl spaces and face is very uncomfortable for them.”

“I love Valerie but I honestly didn’t hear a word she said because I was too distracted by Drew weirdly perched on her arm. Triggering behavior,” stated someone else.

“Drew, love ya, but backup just a little,” said a fourth.

A fifth fan joked, “I’m surprised Valerie’s elbow didn’t bump Drew’s arm, or face.”

“Like I feel weird watching this clip,” admitted another.

A seventh replied, “Hey [Saturday Night Live], have you done a skit about Drew’s personal space issue yet? If not, you’re missing out.”

TOO MUCH?

Drew is no stranger to getting up close and personal with her guests.

Last week, Drew welcomed Percy Jackson’s Logan Lerman, 32, and The Kissing Booth‘s Joey King, 24, to her show.

Joey and Logan appeared on the show to promote their latest project We Were The Lucky Ones.

During their talk, the three bonded over growing up as child actors in the Hollywood industry.
