CRAIG Melvin has finally resurfaced, after abruptly leaving the Today show and worrying his fans.

The Today show anchor confessed he has purposely been off the grid.

After going MIA last week, Craig revealed he was enjoying a little beach vacation.

The 44-year-old posted a photo to Instagram of himself relaxing on the sand, reading friend and co-anchor Savannah Guthrie‘s new book, Mostly What God Does: Reflections on Seeking and Finding His Love Everywhere.

“Out of the office and been off the grid for a few and missed the celebration of faith,” Craig captioned his post. “Reading the deeply personal book my dear friend @savannahguthrie wrote about God’s abundant and omnipresent love. Proud. Just so proud.”

“Worth a read for sure. Happy it’s sparked so many conversations. Back to reading and doing very little….” he ended.

Relieved fans flooded the comments with notes of appreciation and well-wishes.

“Enjoy your time, Craig! You’re missed in the a.m. when you’re not around!” one person lauded.

“What better place to read that book but at the beach,” another offered. “Enjoy your vacation.”

A third echoed, “Miss seeing you and enjoy your vacation.”

One person raved, “Enjoy that beauty and peace and down time. Well deserved.”

FAITH NO MORE

However, many fans of the popular morning show felt last week’s faith-centered episodes were not well deserved, and threatened to ditch the show themselves.

“This caused us to switch to GMA this week. We still get to watch a Roker! I don’t think we’ll be back, Today Show,” one fan said in the comments.

Al Roker‘s wife, Deborah Roberts, appears on GMA occasionally.

“Please make it stop!! I’ve had to switch from the Today 700 club to GMA this week.. wasn’t one day enough? If I was paying to advertise on the today show, I’d be pissed. Equal time for other religions and atheists?” said another.

“Has The Today Show changed in a push Christianity show?” a third added.

“@savannahguthrie quit using the show to promote your religious views. We don’t care,” said another.

SKIPPING OUT

Craig has made a habit out of bailing on his colleagues.

Last month, he ditched his co-hosts in the middle of a live episode, leaving fans bewildered as to where he had gone.

It seemed he had a good reason to be away from his post, however, and had only been sitting in for a short amount of time.

After Craig had departed, co-host Al Roker explained the reason behind his absence.

The 69-year-old mentioned Craig’s disappearance and clarified that he was actually out of the studio for a work assignment for the day.

No one elaborated further on what the work assignment entailed.
