Sara Haines is a television host and journalist.

Born on September 18, 1977, Haines grew up with three siblings before attending Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in government, Haines began her career in the NBC Page Program.

She eventually worked her way up to being a production coordinator for NBC’s Today in 2002.

In 2009, she became the Today show’s fourth-hour contributing correspondent until leaving the role in 2013.

Haines has worked as a correspondent on Today, ABC News, and Good Morning America.

She previously co-hosted The View from 2016 to 2018, taking a break and occasionally filling in as a guest host from her home while the show taped remotely.

Haines co-hosted ABC’s daytime spinoff, GMA 3: Strahan, Sara & Keke, after she departed from The View, but the show was canceled.

Apart from her TV hosting gigs, she’s also appeared, as herself, in the Disney+ superhero series, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

She is a native of Newton, Iowa, and resides in New Jersey with her family.

In 2022, the mayor of Newton declared September 18, Haines’ birthday, as Sara Haines Day in the small town.

How long has Sara Haines been on The View?

After multiple appearances as a guest co-host, Sara Haines officially joined The View as a permanent co-host on September 6, 2016, the show’s 20th season premiere.

On July 23, 2018, ABC revealed that Haines would not be returning to The View for season 22.

She left the show during the 21st season’s penultimate episode on August 2, 2018.

Her departure, however, was relatively short-lived.

Haines returned to the daytime talk show for Season 24, which premiered on September 8, 2020.

Sara confirmed the news on Instagram, uploading a picture of her holding a View mug on her couch with her two children.

“Loving all of my “views” right now,” she wrote.

“This mug has seen enough of the couch and is ready to return to the @theviewabc table (metaphorically speaking in these times) next week!!!”

“We are overdue for some good times in 2020 – let’s do this!!” she wrote.

In a press release put out by the network, Sara continued that she grew up watching The View.

She said she admires “what this show stands for – different women, different backgrounds and different points of view” and that its content “just speaks to my soul.”

“I feel like I caught a shooting star twice,” she said.

“To once again be a part of the dialogue where I can share, discuss, and disagree alongside these powerful and strong women is a tremendous honor,” she continued.

“I feel very lucky,” she added.

Throughout its run, The View has had 24 permanent co-hosts.

The current lineup includes Haines, Joy BeharWhoopi GoldbergSunny HostinAna Navarro, and Alyssa Farah Griffin.
