Chiefs ‘Take Care’ Of Patrick Mahomes In Latest Mock
The Kansas City Chiefs do Patrick Mahomes a solid in CBS Sports’ latest mock draft.
The Kansas City Chiefs know exactly where their roster weaknesses are, and perhaps the most glaring is the offensive line.
Yes, the unit has stars in Creed Humphrey, Joe Thuney, and Trey Smith, but they were gashed in the Super Bowl by the Philadelphia Eagles.

During the season, poor left tackle play from Wanya Morris and Kingsley Suamataia meant Andy Reid had to shift Thuney out to left tackle, which saw Mike Caliendo step in at guard, and the results weren’t great.
Now, the Chiefs must address the left tackle spot, and despite Suamataia being a rookie and Morris a second-year player, in CBS Sports’ latest mock, it is a familiar theme we are now seeing with Oregon stud Josh Conerly Jr. coming to the Cheifs.
“The Philadelphia Eagles exposed the Kansas City Chiefs’ offensive tackles in Super Bowl LIX,” CBS Sports writes. “The 2024 first-team All-Big Ten left tackle allowed the lowest quarterback pressure rate (1.6%) in the conference in 2024, minimum 400 snaps, and he surrendered just two sacks on 1,032 career pass block snaps. Kansas City takes care of Patrick Mahomes here.”
It is no secret that the Chiefs need tackle help, and if the franchise does draft the stud tackle, then it might be a sign that the Chiefs are giving up on Morris and will have Suamataia as his backup.
Either way, whether it’s via free agency or the draft, Kansas City has to do more to protect its move-valuable asset in Mahomes, and in Conerly Jr., the franchise gets a standout tackle who rarely gets beat and doesn’t allow easy lanes through to the quarterback.
Many media outlets are mocking Conerly Jr.’s move to the Chiefs, and if it does come to fruition, Mahomes’ blindside will be protected rather well.
