The former Popworld host, 40, revealed the she shared a kiss with the would-be Islamic terrorist while they were schoolmates at Fox Primary School in Kensington and Chelsea, London.

Oliver opened up about the shock link while talking to best friend Lily Allen on their Miss Me podcast.

Jihadi George, whose real name is Alexanda Kotey, was sentenced to life imprisonment in the US in 2022, having pleaded guilty to eight criminal charges including lethal hostage-taking and conspiracy to support terrorists.

When he was sentenced, the judge described his actions as ‘egregious, violent and inhumane’.

Yet before he joined a terrorist cell and moved to Syria, Kotey, 41, was raised in London and was schoolmates with Oliver and Allen at the Kensington school which also counts Hayley Atwell and Darcey Bussell as former students.

Reflecting on their time together as schoolmates, Oliver shared: ‘Do you remember who my first kiss is? It’s Alexy – mixed race Alexy from Fox. And do you remember what happened to Alexy? He became Jihadi George!’

Laughing, Allen replied: ‘She does pick ’em. It is kind of crazy that your first kiss ended up there. That’s pretty mental.’

Oliver then wrapped up the chat, by stating: ‘It’s not my story to tell so let’s move on!’

She went on to add: ‘There are kisses I’ll never forget – from when you were like teens and twenties.’

‘Between the ages of about 18 and 27 I think most of my straight friends I’d snogged.’

Kotey was a member of ‘The Beatles’ terror group who kidnapped and killed 27 people – targeting westerners because of their allegiance to ISIS.

The group grew up in west London and volunteered to fight for the Islamic State group in Syria, where they ended up guarding Western hostages.

They horrified the world after releasing video footage of several of the killings, showing their victims in orange jumpsuits before they were beheaded.

Among the group were four Americans, James Foley and Steven Sotloff, Peter Kassig and Kayla Mueller – and two Brits.

Kotey – born in Britain of Ghanaian and Greek Cypriot background – was captured in Syria by Kurdish forces.

Kotey went to trial in America after being captured by Kurdish militia in Syria in January 2018, and was handed over to American forces in Iraq in 2020.

He faced trial in the US in relation to the four American hostages, before being sent to Canaan after being sentence on eight counts.

The terrorist was charged with four counts of hostage-taking resulting in death; conspiracy to commit hostage-taking resulting in death; conspiracy to murder US citizens outside of the US; conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists, hostage-taking and murder, resulting in death; and conspiracy to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization resulting in death.

Kotey was one of four terrorists – including El Shafee Elsheikh, Aine Davis, and ringleader Mohammed Emwazi – involved in the terror cell in Syria.

Emwazi, known as Jihadi John, was from West London and was killed in a drone strike – while the others have been forced to face justice for their crimes.

Elsheik was known as George and Davis as Paul, with the group getting their nickname because of their British accents.

They were the quartet of Islamic State extremists who came to personify the worst excesses of the murderous caliphate which, between 2014 and 2016, conquered vast swathes of Syria and Iraq.

In January 2023, family members of the ISIS Beatles victims raised fears that Kotey had negotiated a way of getting ‘easy treatment’ after he vanished from  US custody while being held in Pennsylvania’s high-profile Canaan prison.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) confirmed that he was no longer in their custody – sparking concern about his whereabouts – with one expert claiming he may be grilled on ‘where the bodies are’.

He was sent to Canaan in August 2022, with part of his plea deal including ‘cooperation requirements’.

Kotey’s deal meant that he was able to avoid serving his time at the ADX Florence prison in Colorado – dubbed the ‘Alcatraz of the Rockies’.

However, less than six months after the sentencing, the BOP confirmed that he is ‘not currently in the custody of the Bureau of Prisons’.

In contrast to Kotey, Oliver – the daughter of celebrity chef Andi Oliver – has gone on to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.

In 2001 the age of 16 she began hosting Popworld with Simon Amstell.

She left the Channel 4 show in 2006 but continued to present on T4 and went on to host shows on BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra.
