Being arguably the most famous music artist in the world at the moment comes with some drawbacks. The main one is being a topic of conversation every day in every corner of the world. That can be a good thing, but sometimes it can lead to your name being brought up for the wrong reasons.
Taylor Swift knows all about that. She’s used to the spotlight, so she isn’t easily surprised even when her name comes up in random instances. But this latest one might be a bit too sensitive. Swift was mentioned during a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing on Tuesday. Thankfully, Swift isn’t in trouble, but she was used as an example.
Taylor Swift name-dropped by US Senator at critical hearing
President Donald Trump‘s administration is currently under fire after a journalist was added to a group chat in which secret military plans were revealed. This led to the hearing, where Virginia Senator Mark Warner brought up Swift in order to make a point about not alienating allies.
That sharing of information saves lives, and it’s not hypothetical — we all remember, because it was declassified — last year when Austria worked with our community to make sure to expose a plot against Taylor Swift in Vienna that could have killed literally hundreds of individuals.
During an Eras Tour concert last August, intelligence provided to Austrian law enforcement helped thwart an attack that could have been deadly. Warner used that example in order to make it known that sharing of information with allies is imperative.
